Job Summary:

The Senior Manager is responsible for managing product categories, setting strategic vision for the business and managing the licensee portfolio to meet or exceed fiscal revenue targets and growth objectives.


Category Management
  • Provides Category business vision and leadership, set strategic direction and manages Licensees portfolio
  • Identify growth opportunities, bringing on board new partners where necessary
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of licensees including contract negotiation, problem solving, review of product line planning, and marketing and retail activities
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats, and dynamics
  • Works closely with and foster collaborative relationship with Franchise Licensing, Product Development, Finance, Integrated Retail, Corporate Alliance, Ad Sales, Content Partners, Franchise Marketing, and Citizenship
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Finance and Business Planning
  • Fiscal responsibility for assigned categories include annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting
  • Contributes to the strategic planning process. Develops strategies and business plans by category, retailer and property
  • Develops new business opportunities and manages the process from concept and pitch, to licensee on-boarding and contract signature
Product line Planning
  • Works with Licensees, Integrated Retail and Product Development teams to plan product assortments that meet retailer needs by distribution channel
  • Analyzes current retail placement to identify white space opportunities and execute with existing or new licensees
Retail, Sales and Marketing
  • Analyzes account business performance and develops growth objectives
  • Supports internal initiatives generated by the Franchise Marketing and Integrated Retail teams
  • Works with IRT to identify new opportunities and ensure execution within brand and franchise strategic guidelines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, flexible and adaptable; patient; able to collaborate, influence, and persuade at all levels of an organization, both internal and external
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Capable of working independently and managing a variety of initiatives / opportunities simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker, entrepreneurial
  • Position may require some travel
  • At least 5 yrs. experience at the Category Mgr./Sr. Mgr level within Disney or comparable organization
  • Requires knowledge in basic finances, supply chain management, category management, Marketing, sales

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate would have experience within a major Consumer Product Goods company (but not required).

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree + 5-7 yrs. of directly related experience or Masters +3-5 yrs. experience
