R&D is a team of engineers, designers, artists and scientists who share a passion for solving hard problems and building ground-breaking experiences.

Your mission is to concept, design, prototype and test new tools and techniques to drive Cast engagement. In your role, you bring a unique blend of human-centered design thinking, technical expertise, and product management skills to your work. You like to bring vision and clarity to problems that are complex, ambiguous and full of possibility. You’ll need a curiosity to understand our current systems, tools and operations and a drive to collaborate with leaders across our segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and communicate a clear vision for your work that encompasses the creative vision of new products/experiences as well as the technical requirements to bring it to life

  • Jump-start small teams and quickly prototype technology platforms, tools and techniques that drive Cast engagement and enable Cast members to deliver incredible experiences

  • Flex between working as an individual contributor to leading a larger team towards a common goal

  • Develop roadmaps, goals, schedules, and staffing plans

  • Identify, vet and manage vendors as needed to accomplish project work

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with collaborators within Disney and external to the company

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in product management, with a portfolio that shows an ability to dig into complex, challenging problems and deliver engaging solutions

  • Experience and drive to deeply understand your customers and deliver solutions that surprise, delight and exceed expectations

  • Proven experience leading teams, but you still love to design. You are just as comfortable on a team of two as a team of twenty

  • Driven by the idea of creating new experiences for people, that our technological development is always in service of delivering magic to our cast and our guests

  • Rapid prototyping abilities. You believe in the value of a minimum viable prototype

  • Adaptable and flexible as the team learns through prototyping and playtesting, adjusting strategy as needed

  • Thrives working in collaborative interdisciplinary groups comprised of researchers, engineering and creative talent

  • Experience managing the requirements of a diverse collection of stakeholders and proposing innovative solutions that meet and sometimes challenge those requirements

  • Strong communication skills with a keen ability to inspire your team and external stakeholders

  • Passionate about technology and learning new things

Required Education

BS or equivalent in product design, UX design, or related field
