Part of the Disney Branded Television Group, Disney Television Animation is a high capacity digital animation television production studio. Because of Disney Television Animation’s strong use of commercial and custom software technologies to create its animation products, its use of technology, engineering, development techniques and software is critical to its production operations and workflows. We’re looking for an intellectually curious, business-savvy, analytical powerhouse to join the Disney Television Animation Technology team as a Studio Pipeline Project Manager (SPPM).

The Studio Pipeline Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of a studio-wide production tracking system following an existing Project Design and set of Goals. The ideal candidate is a strong technologist and manager who is comfortable with code, understands best practices in the team development of a large system, can keep the details of a complex system fully in their mind, can communicate complex technical topics in simple language or visuals, and is very detail oriented to ensure accurate project implementation. This candidate is also a natural team builder with a motivating, unifying and collaborative personality. This position works closely with the VP Technology, Manager Software Development, Executive Director Digital Production, Executive Studio Management, Producers, and studio artists across multiple disciplines to ensure the final product success.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop a full understanding of the existing Project Design and Goals

  • Design and schedule a roadmap for the implementation of Project Design and Goals

  • Regular check-ins with the System Engineering, SRE, Software Development and programming teams to ensure roadmap stays on-track, security and best practices are being followed

  • Daily monitoring of check-ins to a revision control repository to ensure progress and consistency in coding style and naming conventions throughout the code base

  • Regular testing of features and workflows to ensure they adhere to those described in the Project Design and Goals

  • Regular check-ins with Studio Executives, Producers, and artists to demo and solicit feedback on implementation and workflows

  • Create additional design documents or visual aids for clarity as needed

  • Promote a positive, productive, and highly collaborative work environment

  • Be the catalyst for a rapid and continuous iteration feedback loop between all departments

  • Regular reporting on project status


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional software development management

  • Exceptional and demonstrable organizational skills managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and digitally. Able to create diagrams, tables, schedules, and spreadsheets as needed to facilitate understanding between all departments

  • Very comfortable with Gitlab or Git revision control, including CI/CD concepts

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Project Management, or equivalent industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the animation industry

  • Python coding experience

  • Familiarity with Shotgrid/FTrack , Nuke, and Maya APIs

  • Familiarity with UNIX shell scripting
