Job Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Global Product Creation, this individual will lead the product strategy, product design, line development and assortment curation for the Pixar, Princess, Parks Specific & Animation (PiPPA) franchises. Accountability will span across both the Merchandising and Design functions for all product categories and within all distribution channels globally. This role will be focused on the essential product strategies and initiatives that will equip The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) in unlocking its next wave of short-term and long-term growth in products while delivering innovation, increased value and new businesses to the organization.


Lead the design & development of all global products for the PiPPA franchises:
Design and develop one global product line that is consumer-led, leveraged across all channels of business and inclusive of region-specific needs.

  • Strategically manage product design & development to capture growth in large-scale, mature, global business
  • Lead a team of designers to develop holistic, multi-category product lines that deliver market-leading, innovation, drive revenue and capture market share globally
  • Identify and build new product strategies that grow the lifestyle within the franchise to address whitespace in the market and capture incremental enterprise value, new consumers and greater market share globally
  • Lead design team through product approvals that uphold the integrity of our franchises, are consumer-centric, deliver the highest quality products for the money and breakthrough in the market place globally
  • Drive design that is creative, innovative and that brings the magic of our company to the products we make
  • Partner with Global Creative and Consumer Insights, Measurements & Analytics to drive up-front trend POV and identify future areas of growth in the franchise and across product categories
  • Partner with Studio, Content Providers, Global Creative, Marketing and Commercial teams to bring our content and IP to life properly and with a consistent brand point of view across the globe
  • Work with over 4000 3rd party partners to design & develop market leading products for the PIPPA franchises
Lead the product line development, assortment curation and cross-segment integration for the PiPPA franchises:
Lead the product strategy and assortment development for one global line; including O&O (Parks, Stores and ecomm), Licensing, DTR, Wholesale, Shop-in-Shops, Concessions and all other flexible business model initiatives
  • Lead in the development of one holistic global product line that identifies commonality and ensures needs of each commercial strategy are met
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure proper product segmentation vs. both competition and our owned & operated channels across the globe
  • Strategically build product assortments that meet internal profit thresholds while delivering the strongest price/value ratio to our customers and consumers
  • Partner with Commercial, Sales and Planning leadership teams on global category plans to ensure correct sku depth and investment to support highest sell-throughs
  • Partner with Commercial Leadership Team and 3rd Party Partners to identify new areas of growth to unlock future value and increase market share for our company globally
  • Act as the translator between creative and commercial ensuring that GPC delivers the proper mix of service for today while building for the future.
  • Own and drive the cross-segmentation (design, creative, commercial, marketing) integration of product strategy globally
  • Partner with Commercial and Marketing Leadership Teams on PR and influencer plans globally
  • Maximize buzz-worthiness by building items that drive a deep emotional connection with our guests
  • Connect across the Global Marketing & Product Development M&D heads team to build equity-driving out of berm activations
Lead Product Development and Collaborations for Parks specific activations:
Drive the best expression of our brands through unique Park and Attraction based retailing. Build products that are designed for a fully immersive space though well-executed activations that maximize capture within the attraction while building equity and desire for future interaction with products in our unique specialty retail environment
  • Build holistic product development strategy to support the immersive Parks-specific experiences
  • Partner with WDI and SVP of O&O to ensure the products we build continue the story and complete the experience for our valuable Parks guests
  • Lead global product POV with a strong knowledge of specialty retailing

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Product Merchandising, Design and Licensing in retail, wholesale and 3rd party environments
  • Experience in building a global product line that is both globally leveraged and locally relevant
  • Experience in designing and developing product lines for vertical specialty retailing
  • Experience working with large-scale, global retailers to bring product assortments to market
  • Experience managing a global team with direct reports, stakeholders and partners in other countries
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a product design team in the creation of consumer-led items from concept through activation
  • Demonstrated ability to capitalize on market trends and consumer zeitgeist to maximize value creation throughout the trend cycle
  • Demonstrated ability to create, leverage and scale innovation in consumer products
  • Demonstrated ability to manage revenue creation while maintaining brand integrity
  • Strong working knowledge of the omni-channel marketplace globally
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive execution against a financial plan
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence a diverse audience including experience working with external partners and business owners to bring product and assortments to the market
  • Successful experience working, and thriving, in a highly matrixed company structure
  • Robust leadership and talent development abilities and a collaborative and effective management style
  • Strong Team Player – The ability to build & foster collaborative partnerships across functions & departments within The Walt Disney Corporation
  • Proven ability to think creatively and disruptively to bring and infuse new ideas into product development
  • Experience in multiple segments within the global market
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the organizational and cultural change efforts needed to ensure new, innovative concepts, business practices, and technologies are fully adopted and integrated into the business
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Merchandising, Business, Retail Management or related fields
