JOB DESCRIPTION

The Art department develops the visual look for characters, sets, and/or color scenarios for our films. Artists are responsible for clear, detailed work that will ensure easy hand off to other departments in production and facilitate the execution of the visualized concepts. Candidates should be recent grads with solid drawing, painting and design skills. Photoshop skills are necessary. Familiarity with Maya is helpful, but not required. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develop characters/sets/props 

  • Gain a greater understanding of color, light, and staging in color keys

  • Execute looks in 2D and 3D to support development work

  • Develop the following skills: 

    • Consistency - maintain a constant level of quality in designs

    • Quantity - provide multiple options for every assignment

    • Communication - clearly communicate ideas and pitches 

    • Note taking - apply feedback from Mentors in subsequent iterations

  • Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets. 

Qualifications:

Education, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in painting, industrial design, or fine art preferred.

  • Open to graduates whose graduations dates fall within: Spring 2017 - Spring 2020

  • Strong and well developed traditional art skills, including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, and composition

  • Strong character/environments concept drawing skills

  • Proven expertise in Photoshop techniques is required

  • Knowledge of cinematic techniques, language and shot composition

  • Innovative thinking and expressive styling that is exhibited through a body of work in animation, illustration, fine art or live action

  • Openness and ability to take creative direction 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating skills, scope and abilities is require
