JOB DESCRIPTION

Blue Sky Studios is developing Portal, our next generation web interface for viewing and managing production media and assets.  The Software Engineer (Front End Web Development) will design and implement web-based tools that manage and visualize the data used in the creation of animated feature films.  The Software Engineer (Front End Web Development) will join the Media Tools team inside Blue Sky's Research and Engineering group. The Media Tools team is responsible for creating modern and intuitive interfaces that enable artists and studio leadership to view and interact with production media and assets.  We are looking for candidates who are eager to keep up with the latest in software development tools, techniques, and have a desire to develop a cutting edge animation production pipeline. Help us build intuitive interfaces that will delight our artists and studio leadership.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • An ideal Front Engineer would have a minimum of 4+ years of experience building highly scalable and responsive UIs for the web and mobile devices

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience developing applications in HTML, JavaScript, CSS and general web 2.0 technologies

  • Experience writing modular/reusable code using React

  • Experience with Typescript and SCSS a plus

  • Experience working with design and understanding of different frameworks

  • Great interpersonal communication skills

  • Work closely with the Research and Engineering group to ensure successful software deployment

  • Continually review the production pipeline and provide web-based solutions to increase overall efficiency

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate

  • Proficiency in React, NodeJS, Javascript, Python

  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts

  • Open source contribution is a plus

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision

  • Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups

  • Experience with database systems such as Cassandra and ElasticSearch a plus
