Job Summary:

The Assistant Editor will support the senior editorial team in the development of global programs based on Disney Feature Animation, Pixar, Live Action, Disney+ titles (series and one-shot movies) The candidate will work on comics, graphic novels, magazines and activity formats and will partner closely with designers, authors, artists, operations, external agencies and packagers. Must be interested in children’s publishing, have exceptional writing and proofreading skills, and can efficiently manage diverse responsibilities in a high-volume work environment. You will report to the Executive Editor.


  • Partner with multiple Departments including Design, Art, Managing Editorial and Copyediting during the creative development
  • Set up projects in title management system, request ISBNs/ISSNs
  • Supervise and edit manuscript, check design and art passes against the art notes or provided brief
  • Set up calls with 3rd parties involved and help prepare the creative briefs for new projects
  • Create and update production schedules
  • Participate in new titles ats brainstorming meetings
  • Support editorial development and revisions
  • Manage all aspects of project workflow
  • Prepare catalogues, presentations, one-sheets to facilitate communication to licensees and global territories
  • Keep track of new trends on the global markets to propose ideas for new comics series ats.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years comics publishing work experience
  • Proficiency in Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, Keynote
  • Interest in Disney properties (advance knowledge of franchises is a plus)
  • Understanding of story development structure, characters’ development and the editorial process
  • The ability to brainstorm new ideas with a large team and independently
  • Strong organizational skills to develop and track multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
