Job Summary:

The Lead QA Engineer examines, validates, and tests software systems to ensure that developed products and services are scalable and reliable. This role performs routine performance and chaos testing tasks, and records automation scripts as required. This engineer is the primary coordinator for onshore/offshore teams to execute automated testing and the primary contact for the delivery studios on triage and resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with examination, validation and testing of software systems.
  • Analyzes application performance to meet the needs of the business.
  • Performs routine quality assurance tasks and bug fixes.
  • Participates in the testing of software according to specific guidelines and protocols.
    • Analyzes data requirements for application performance/scalability.
    • Supports execution of automated testing protocols.
    • Assists in the creation of test strategy and plans for performance, high availability, monitoring of environment validation.
  • Participates in developing and executing routine scripted automated tests
    • Creates the automation test plan for a specific feature or discipline within a project, in alignment with the overall QA strategy
    • Is able to understand and analyze automation requirements, and develop and execute automated test script to satisfy project requirements.
    • Captures and analyzes results; reports metrics.
  • Writes defect reports and performs initial triage of performance defects.
  • Works with development and environment teams to remediate bottlenecks.
  • Communicates with client organization regarding test results; may partner with engineering team to interpret client feedback into product iterations.
  • Assists with test plans and protocols.
  • Follows QA processes, standards, and best practices to test and implement.
  • Documents and assists in the resolution of routine problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ten or more years of experience in software development and/or performance assurance testing.
  • Advanced knowledge of software QA engineering tools and processes, test automation, testing frameworks and consumer-facing applications.
  • Experience with:
    • Yourkit
    • VisualVM
    • Wireshark
    • Fiddler
    • Charles Proxy
    • jMeter – Scripting and Execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Python
  • Node
  • Java, JavaScript
  • Spring
  • Eclipse, Git
  • APM Tools – Dynatrace or AppDynamics, Sitescope
  • Log Analysis - Splunk, ELK
  • Data Visualization – Kibana, Grafana
  • jProfiler
  • Chaos Monkey

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar field or related work experience.
