Job Summary:

The Lead Technical Architect is responsible for leading definition of software and hardware capabilities needed to support application architecture, development & deployment of business, information and application services. The individual will identify, evaluates and recommends solutions and technologies to facilitate rapid development and implementation.

Designs and leads the implementation of an application and infrastructure architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies, and works to ensure the integrity, security, availability, effectiveness, and efficiency of that technology infrastructure. The individual also will design and lead implementation of common/reusable application architectural components and frameworks which would be used across DPEP applications.

Understands business needs as well as customer and market requirements. Recommends new technology directions or options when appropriate. Solves complex architectural design problems. Sets technical standards, provides strategic technical direction, and provides architectural guidance. It is the responsibility of the person to coordinate with architects and designers from various disciplines (solution, infrastructure, reference architecture, data/information) to define the most effective technical solution to business problems, while also leveraging their knowledge of existing systems and services and the capabilities available in the marketplace


  • Lead Technical Architect will serve as a technical bridge between business and technical stakeholders to develop a technical and architectural approach that supports business initiatives.
  • Work closely with Principal Architects, Lead Developers, Product, Program and Operations team members to ensure that the design and technical architectural direction for DPEP applications/systems are aligned to support key business segment initiatives.
  • Create delivery estimates based on solution architecture approach.
  • Assess market technology choices to determine fit, including software, hardware, SaaS/PaaS, etc.
  • Translate complex functional, technical, and business requirements into architectural designs.
  • Continually strives to deliver operational excellence by leveraging deep understanding of end to end use cases to assist partner teams with test automation, creation of synthetic tests and production support.
  • Drives technical designs to consensus and approval. Designs solutions for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements.
  • Develop common reusable frameworks & components along with end-to-end proof of concepts for the proposed solution as needed.
  • Assist in the continual evolution of the technical architecture team's processes and metrics to make the team more efficient, and increase value added to partner teams.
  • Coordinate with delivery project managers and business analysts to draft project scope and compile delivery estimates.
  • Adapt to a quickly changing environment and interact with a broad customer base with diverse needs and functional responsibilities.
  • Be responsible for gaining a deep understanding of the entire DPEP portfolio of applications and understand the integrations between them.
  • Develop roadmaps for the existing portfolio of applications to help ensure we are moving toward a consolidated footprint of technologies that align with the reference architecture current and future needs.
  • Be a champion for helping ensure other technical architects and delivery teams are moving as aggressively as possible toward getting existing applications uplifted where possible and ensuring all new applications are aligning with the Reference Architecture prescriptions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the DPEP applications and business processes and proactively advise on opportunities for business process redesign, or application or process consolidation and/or simplification.
  • Be the go-to resource for other technical architects that are looking for assistance with solving complex architecture issues.
  • Review other architects’ solutions and ensures their application architecture strategy aligns with organizational goals.
  • Help continue to evolve the Technical Architecture team’s processes and metrics to make the team more efficient, and increase the value add to the organizations supported.
  • Work across all delivery teams to help better define and communicate the Technology Engineering Team’s value; what’s working, what’s not, what should we be doing that we’re not etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in architecture, design & development of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based large scale, high throughput & low latency based transactional systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in performance engineering & tuning of java applications targeted for web & mobile along with moderate knowledge on DB SQL tuning.
  • 3+ years of experience in architecture, design & development of Cloud native applications in Amazon Web Service (AWS).
  • In-depth architecture and technical understanding of enterprise level theme park sales & reservation systems – Travelbox
  • Prior experience of working in Lean/Agile methodologies.
  • Technical knowledge and skills that are broad and deep, covering various hardware, software, and platforms.
    • The candidate must have good experience in designing and integrating complex heterogeneous technology environments with highly integrated and mission critical solutions (involving more than 50 systems/applications).
    • Extensive experience in designing & implementation of Micro Service and RESTful APIs confirming to all modern standards and practices.
    • Good experience in both AWS and Azure Cloud Environments
    • Experience in Performance Optimizations for large scale high-volume web systems or transactional client-server enterprise applications.
    • Experience in Web/Mobile Applications Security Architecture (Transport Layer, Data Protection, Access Control etc)
    • Extensive experience in Event Driven Architecture primarily using Rabbit MQ and Kafka.
    • Excellent on Java, Spring, REST, DB & LINUX.
    • Experience in common industry standard DevOps tools & practices.
