Job Summary:

Manager-Technology, Chief of Staff, will support the Vice President’s vision and strategies and be a force-multiplier.  The candidate will be a high-visibility strategic partner that supports the VP and executive leadership team in strategic planning, organizational development, communications, financial management, community involvement and relationship building.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support the Retail and Restaurant technology and digital executive team in development of the organization with a depth and breadth of business & technology domain knowledge, allowing for flexibility as demand grows

  • Organize, prioritize/sequence and communicate portfolio activities across the teams with dedicated focus to ensure everyone is coordinated, organized to anticipate, and mitigate risks or challenges

  • Coordinate and facilitate leadership meetings (town-halls, team meeting, executive updates, etc.) including planning, agenda, actions, and follow-up

  • Develop the processes the Executive receives and digests information, as well as the approach, for transmitting intent or simply communicating broadly with the organization

  • Manage and coordinate technical/non-technical initiatives of small to medium complexity across various disciplines and stakeholders, including tracking key activities and milestones, managing deliverables to deadlines, integrate activities across work streams, and surface risks and concerns, as appropriate

  • Work closely with Portfolio Planning and Financial support teams to ensure management of capital and expense budgets according to the approved plan, including:

    • Participate in the financial planning activities including Annual Capital Planning, Annual Operating Planning, Long Term Planning, and monthly forecasting

    • Participate and analyze, using financial data to identify key issues, opportunities, and outcomes

    • Participate, analyze, and recognize the financial impact of portfolio planning decisions

    • Support business processes and financial policies to ensure department adheres to internal controls

  • Oversee headcount management, consultant for resource requests and allocation and tracking of recruitment activities

  • Participate in creation of portfolio specific reporting including scorecards, roadmaps, status updates

  • Lead contingency planning efforts, identify bottlenecks, surface issues, and proactively drive for their resolution

  • Prepare presentations and updates for internal audiences

  • Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects, and ensure action items are executed

  • Serve as liaison between staff, executives, senior leaders, and SVP, regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning

  • Provide various types of analysis, recommendations, and options regarding high impact decisions          

  • Clarify tactical issues before they reach the Executive

  • Assist Executive team to drive Cast engagement and increase organizational vibrancy

  • Work in partnership with commerce communications team to support Cast development, recognition, and inclusion

  • Help develop a creative brand for the organization to elevate the team mentality, providing a consistency within decks, documentation, and internal Cast communications

  • Has the authority to manage and maintain work in flight on behalf of the executive and escalate when barriers occur

  • Handle capital and expense budgets for projects and initiatives in partnership with Retail & Restaurant Technology and Digital leaders

Business Acumen:

Strong understanding of DPEP and Technology & Digital organization.  Thorough understanding of strategic planning, financials, and portfolio management best practices.  

The Manager will work in partnership with the following teams:

  • Commerce Technology and Digital Executives, Leaders, and Cast

  • Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani, The Disney Stores Business Leaders

  • Partners within Technology Business Operations and Technology Finance

  • Resource Management

  • Human Resources

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in a business or management role

  • Proven ability to influence without formal authority- taking ownership of tasks and see through to completion, delegate as appropriate to stakeholders providing input

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in roles and processes that are not clearly defined, constantly evolving and broad through self-reliance and resourcefulness

  • Demonstrated understanding of software development concepts, terminology, project delivery models and team structures.

  • Skilled in distilling insights, synthesizing, and crafting compelling presentations for executive audiences

  • Demonstrated ability using analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Smartsheet, Tableau) to quickly collate, analyze and provide insight for large data sets with tight deadlines.

  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, solve problems, and implement solutions

  • Ability to initiate change and act with integrity, regardless of the organizational environment

  • Ability to work effectively and influentially at all levels in an organization

  • Experience partnering with technology, internal business partners, and vendors

  • Ability to successfully operate in an environment where partnership and influence are key success drivers

  • Demonstrated ability to manage the day-to-day tasks while defining and executing against strategic objectives

  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments

  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form

  • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity

  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives

  • Detail oriented with ability to analyze or compile data and present insightful summaries

  • Experience with financial and contract management

  • Consulting experience with a focus on operations management

  • Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Microsoft Office Specialist (Excel Expert and PowerPoint Expert)

  • Smartsheet Certified

  • Certified Tableau Desktop Specialist
