Walt Disney World Resort is seeking an experienced Occupational Registered Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical care at the health services clinic. As part of the Health Services Department, this Cast Member will report directly to the Chief Physician for Walt Disney World.

The work environment is a fast-paced Occupational Health Clinic Environment with nurses, physicians, medical assistants who work in a close, collaborative style

The physical demands and working conditions require frequent walking, standing, squatting, sitting and lifting (less than 25 lbs.) throughout the shift; Occasional stooping and bending; and frequent fine fingering/handling/reaching (side, overhead, low)


  • Provide prompt, comprehensive and competent medical care within scope of State Licensure and established medical protocols
  • Work collaboratively with medical and non-medical personnel to provide high quality health care to patients.
  • Conduct physical examinations and fitness-for-duty evaluations and assessments
  • Treat illnesses and injuries sustained by employees during working hours, both urgent and scheduled
  • Medically evaluate and treat occupationally related medical conditions, including ordering appropriate medication and work restrictions, with a focus on minimizing disability and early return to work
  • Make recommendations for referrals using established policies and the Workers Compensation Department
  • Develop knowledge of health promotion resources available to Cast Members, and counsel them in their use as medically indicated to support cast member’s overall health improvement
  • This is a full-time, salaried position with a minimum of 40 hours per week or more based on business need. Typically, five 8-hour shifts per week to include weekends

Day-to-day tasks include:
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing
  • Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Diagnose/treat chronic and acute health care problems, sch as high blood pressure, diabetes or other illnesses, infections, or injuries
  • Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized to include dosages, routes, and frequencies, based on such patient characteristics as age and gender
  • Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
  • Order, perform, or interpret the results of diagnostic tests, such as complete blood counts (CBCs), electrocardiograms (EKGs), and radiographs (x-rays)
  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognoses in our Electronic Medical Record
  • Develop treatment plans or interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks, based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines
  • Perform routine or annual physical examinations as well as primary care procedures such as suturing, splinting, administering immunizations, taking cultures, and debriding wounds
  • Detect and respond to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such pregnant and lactating women, or older adults
  • Counsel patients drug interactions and medical conditions that may impact ability to perform their role safety , as well as about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances, such as food supplements, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, or herbal remedies
  • Treat or refer patients for primary care conditions, such as headaches, hypertension, urinary tract infections, upper respiratory infections, and dermatological conditions or appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise
  • Diagnose or treat complex, unstable, comorbid, episodic, or emergency conditions in collaboration with other health care providers as necessary
  • Schedule follow-up visits to monitor patients or evaluate health or illness care
  • Supervise or coordinate patient care or support staff activities
  • Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations for nurse practitioner practice, including reimbursement of services
  • Provide patients or caregivers with assistance in locating health care resources
  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures in areas such as safety and infection control

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders, dermatological conditions, and possible inhalation exposures
  • Demonstrated ability to assess wounds and lacerations. Experience performing basic suturing for primary wound closures is desired, but not required
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with an Electronic Medical Record
  • OSHA record-keeping rule knowledge, or willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated high degree of professionalism

Required Education

  • Florida state licensed APRN
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health
  • Commercial driver medical examiner certified through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
  • BCLS Certification

Preferred Education

  • Certified in occupational nursing
