The person in this role will have the responsibility to plan and/or manage one or more large scale, system-wide, highly complex infrastructure architecture projects while contributing significantly to the evolution of the other architecture dimensions (i.e., data, process, and/or application). These projects could be in the areas of defining and/or evolving multiple segments of the Technology Architecture. Additionally, the person will be responsible for leading ongoing architecture & trends research to develop thought-leadership and strategies in the development and evolution of Infrastructure Technology Architecture. Foundational skills require hands-on experience developing & presenting architecture strategies & models, hands-on experience in structuring and leading architecture definition/refinement sessions, ability to work in a highly matrixed environment, strong consulting & communication skills.
  • Develop, maintain and provide technical expertise in order to transfer knowledge on operating systems and other infrastructure components.
  • Establish and maintain the architecture and standard technology products in order to enable consistent, reusable and efficient practices within.
  • Assess the compatibility and integration of products proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technology segments.
  • Communicate new and maintain a repository of IT standards/policies, changes or associated implementation requirements to affected stakeholders in order to ensure that resources are in place for effective and timely implementation, and that standard requirements are accessible to all stakeholders.
  • Monitor standards/policy compliance
  • Consult with solution project teams in order to develop a solution design which is compliant with the architecture and standards of IOSD.
  • Communicate standards compliance results to stakeholders in order to (facilitate resolution) address issues with adherence to standards.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on requests to use non-compliant technologies in order to promote standard compliance and reduce complexity.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 12 years related work experience
  • Technical Knowledge: Thought leadership for development of leading edge technologies theories and concepts in specialty area(s)

  • 10-15+ years of Infrastructure Experience (Hosting: Compute, Storage, Networking)
  • Recent (or Strong) Operational Experience (5-7+ years of experience)
  • Strong Troubleshooting and Analytics Skills (will be asked to aid in TS for P1 issues as part of role)
  • Strong Technical Architecture Skills (Technical Currency, EOL/EOS planning, Standards, Roadmap vendor/IOSD)
  • Strong Infrastructure Solution Design Skills (Gather application/business requirements and translate into
  • blueprints based on existing service offerings)
  • Strong Communication Skills (can translate technical concepts to senior leadership, peers, and operations staff;
  • can have dialog with various customer/partners)
  • Can work independently and within a cross-matrix team structure
  • 5-10+ years of virtualization experience (specifically vmware and recent/within the last 6-12 months) REQ
  • 5-10+ years of operating systems experience (specifically Linux/Windows and recent) REQ
  • 5-10+ years of storage experience (within last 2-3 years) REQ
  • 5-10+ years of x86 hardware platforms (preferred HPE, Dell) REQ
  • 2-3+ years of software defined storage experience (specifically vSAN, but could include Store Virtual, ScaleIO, etc)
  • REQ
  • 5+ years of network Layer 1-3 experience (within last 2-3 years) REQ
  • 5+ years of network services experience (DNS, DHCP, F5/Load Balancing, Firewalls) ++
  • 5+ years of authentication services experience (LDAP, AD, PAM, ED) ++
  • Certifications or training in vmware products ++
    -vCenter (& Management/Monitoring vROPS/Log Insight)
  • Experience implementing or supporting private cloud infrastructure ++
  • Experience implementing cloud management platforms (particularly vRA, but Cloud Forms, CSA, Right Scale, Scalr, etc) ++
  • Experience with infrastructure orchestration products (particularly vRO, but HPOO, CA ITPAM, RunDeck) ++
  • Experience with public cloud providers (plus, not required) ++
  • Experience with relational and no-sql database technologies (plus) ++
  • Experience with various type of application topology/technologies (plus) ++
  • Experience with legacy UX platforms (AS400, AIX, HPUX, Solaris)++
  • Experience with OS configuration management tools (CHEF preferred, Puppet/Ansible)++
  • Experience with financial management concepts capex/opex/budgeting ++
  • Experience with project management concepts (agile, waterfall) ++
  • Experience with systems management and monitoring implementations (Splunk, New Relic, Data Dog, HP Site Scope, etc) ++

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cross platform infrastructure experience desired.
  • System Design: Knowledge of system design procedures and the ability to translate functional business requirements into an application system or process to meet the clients' needs that also meets all relevant infrastructure standards.
  • Technology Architecting: Ability to holistically conceptualize and model the use of technologies across a broad set of business applications to translate business strategies and requirements into technical strategies and to apply the architecture models to create achievable system designs for business solutions.
  • IT Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the key directional trends and emerging technologies in the IT industry. Includes knowledge of the key vendors, their strategic and tactical plans, and internal/external advisory services.
  • IT Operating Environment: Knowledge of Walt Disney and Segment operating environments (e.g., compute, storage, web and network) and processes (e.g., security administration, network management, production control) used in solution design and development efforts. Includes knowledge of key organizational contacts and groups supporting Business operations to allow for information sharing and issue resolution.
  • Technical Writing: Knowledge of and ability to apply effective design principles to communicate complex and detailed information across various communication vehicles and information types (e.g., web site content, on-line help text, technical content).

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
