The Senior Manager, Disney Financial Systems (DFS), plays a key role in sustaining timely and accurate financial data and transactions in the DMED Front of House systems that support subscription sales.  This senior manager role will lead the team that will monitor and trouble-shoot financial activity in the end-to-end ecosystem, partnering with DMED Technology and business teams such as Cash Management, Controllership and Sales and Use Tax.  They will assist in the definition of strategic objectives that support business expansion and stability, and participate in the initiatives to deliver against those objectives.

The ideal candidate should have a strong accounting or finance background with experience in SAP and finance system implementations at Enterprise, Segment or Business Unit level, preferably with Order-to-Cash processes.  This candidate should have experience leading the finance activities on projects, be familiar with financial process best practices, and be comfortable communicating with and presenting to all levels of employees.  They should also have a demonstrated ability to develop relationships and strategic partnerships.  The candidate should have experience leading team members, ideally leading leaders. 

Project Leadership / Management

  • Manage the financial impacts in multiple large/complex projects, potentially covering multiple process areas.
  • Leads the requirements, resource management, implementation and support of finance system solutions for assigned projects that are related to subscriptions.
  • Effectively communicates with management, stakeholders, subject matter experts and project team members.
  • Lead projects for business transformation, process improvement, data visibility, policy change, improved user experience and reduced cost and risk.  Incorporate best practices, controls and testing standardization
  • Develops project plans with specific goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule.
  • Prevent scope creep, record causes of change, and facilitate change requests to ensure impacts to schedule or budget, as well as forecasts, are approved and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Monitors project results against business area objectives, milestones and scope.
  • Develops solution testing, training and communication.
  • Obtains project signoff of completion and appropriately close-out from constitute areas.
  • Partner with DMED Technology on the definition and execution of projects that replace or enhance subscription sales functions or financial activities, including requirement, design, test planning and execution

Strategy

  • Partner with DMED Technology and EFS teams engaged in Subscription Sales to map out business improvements that advance the strategic objectives of EFS related to Subscription Sales
  • Enable communication between Technology and finance partners to ensure that modifications, impacts, costs and value are captured and planned appropriately
  • Defines and drives long term strategy for Disney Financial Systems and related processes within their process areas.
  • Implements strategic plans participating in the selection of methods, tools, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Leverages synergy opportunities across functions and businesses.
  • Makes sound business decisions that balance competing priorities.
  • Serves as a strategic business planning partner working with business units (within each Segment and across the Enterprise) and the appropriate technology teams to formulate enhancement options to address specific functional issues / requirements.
  • Develops Strategy for obtaining/analyzing metrics to identify trends, process/system opportunities and recommends corrective action.
  • Recommends and implements process improvement/reengineering initiatives.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of business specific objectives.

Sustainment

  • Partner with Technology to understand technology changes from projects, enhancements and fixes that have a financial impact in order to communicate with the EFS teams
  • Create and foster positive working relationships with the DMED Technology leaders to ensure the best interests of EFS are maintained
  • Partner with the other DFS leaders that support related systems and processes on projects, resource planning and sustainment
  • Define and implement a support structure to provide business support for the financial-related activities in subscription sales systems
  • Provide triage, testing and communication as needed to EFS for all production support incidents related to  the subscription systems that have a financial impact
  • Plan for any support level changes that are required as a result of other business changes such as projects or business expansion
  • Ensure controls are designed into the subscription sales systems and executed as defined

Experience

Minimum

  • Minimum ten years of business experience with exposure to financial and accounting systems, preferably in a large organization that uses SAP
  • Minimum of 2 years leading Order to Cash business processes at the Enterprise, Segment or Business Unit levels of the organization
  • Minimum 5 years work experience managing teams
  • Experience working within a matrix organization for a large company
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical subjects/audiences
  • Strong ability to interact effectively and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Previous experience managing organizations with both direct and indirect reporting employees, preferably with some team members in a remote location
  • Strong relationship building and consensus building skills, with a highly professional “client service orientation”
  • Charismatic, dynamic leader and effective manager, who leads by example and will mentor a team to meet high profile objectives
  • Proven ability to partner with multiple project/specialty teams, including Enterprise Technology, DMED Technology, Tax, Legal, vendors and key functional/business teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage on-time delivery of effective solutions
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to motivate and lead team to work together in a highly collaborative, efficient manner
  • Effective negotiation skills and proven contract development experience
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a multi-tasking environment to enable strategic business objectives through the investment and delivery of enabling technology
  • Ability to use metrics to drive performance, efficiency and forecast improvements
  • Experience managing relationships with technology vendors
  • Demonstrated business acumen, ability to build credibility with internal clients and to navigate organizational structures
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, experience implementing complex financial processes and systems with an ability to discriminate between symptoms and root causes
  • Ability to focus on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
  • Experienced in using the Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
  • Ability to occasionally travel for business, domestically and potentially internationally
  • Ability to lead a diverse work force, located in many physical locations and with much of their time working virtually

  • Experience working with DMED content sales accounting processes and/or technology
