This position reports to the Manager of Uility Intergration for Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES). The Senior Project Manager – Electrical is responsible for the direction and implementation of a portfolio of electrical construction projects for RCES at the Walt Disney World Resort. This role is accountable for ensuring consistency with department strategy, commitments and goals. This position leads and directs the progress on each project including initial planning, scope development, contracting, project planning, scheduling, productivity, financial performance, quality control, safety, construction and closeout; maintaining leadership throughout the life cycle. Responsibilities

  • SAFETY – Responsible for overall project safety, obtaining final approval for a contractor submitted safety plan and compliance with the project safety plan. Includes compliance with all regulatory (such as OSHA) requirements, corporate governance and RCES safety and construction requirements.
  • PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT – Responsible for the development, planning execution and closeout of all aspects of the portfolio management (with direct reports) throughout the project life cycle. Includes: project design, development implementation, budget, maintaining accurate estimated final costs (EFCs) for financial reporting and maintenance of all job files. Make suggestions to lessen operational impact and negotiates with operators to implement the job in the most cost effective manner.
  • CONTRACT DEVELOPMENT – Develops bid strategies with RCES/RCID contract administrators. Includes: administration of contracts, scope of work, unit costing items, bid alternatives and operational constraints required for contract preparation.
  • PROJECT SCHEDULE – Responsible for the development and implementation of project schedules for all aspects and resources for the entire project life cycle. Establishes critical path task to ensure schedule compliance and ensures proper resource loading to achieve desired completion date. Foresees and mitigates issues based upon data analysis and historical precedence.
  • CLIENT COMMUNICATION – Responsible for coordinating operational constraints and job objectives concurrently to achieve seamless project implementation. Includes timely communication with Management, Business Partners, Clients, Operations, Contractors, Engineering, Consultants, Material Team and Vendors regarding project status, schedule, financial and WDW guest impacts. Develop and conduct presentations to stakeholders including WDW, RCID and RCES executives.
  • TECHNICAL COMPETENCY – Technically competent in electrical utility design, construction and operation of 69KV to 120V electrical systems. Demonstrated project management experience for new construction, road projects, system improvement and upgrades of electrical systems. Understanding of construction procedures for electrical systems and applicable codes (NESC, NEC and local jurisdictional authorities. Utilizes various software programs, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.…) in the daily operation of the business and development of project plans, schedules and presentations.
  • PROCESS COMPETENCY – Responsible for timely issues of field directives, obtaining costing concurrence from estimating, conversation to change orders, obtaining management approval to allow or accurate EFC reporting and timely project closeout.
  • LEADERSHIP – Provides daily oversight to Electric Construction Field Representatives Leads responsible for the execution of electrical construction projects. Works collaboratively with the Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Construction Field Representative, Project Office and Technical Cast Members. Leads, mentors and manages team to prioritize and accomplish high impact project activities. Trains individuals on project management processes, professional development and looks for ways to incorporate diversity within the team. Typically manages 35 to 60 projects with an annual budget of $10M to $15M.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university in Engineering or Construction Management. Education requirement may be mitigated with proven applicable experience in electrical utility engineering, operations, construction or project management.
  • Eight (8) years if experience in Engineering or Construction or Operations or Project Management working with electric utilities.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety standards, practices, leadership and training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, construction and operations of electric utility systems including design drawings, specifications and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction and project management processes including contract management and purchasing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction financial management including budget development, forecasting, cash flows, etc.…
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft office products with the ability to learn other software applications including Project Management software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform work in a variety of field environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of utility scale electric distribution, transmission or substation project or construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects while managing scheduling, operations and financial constraints
  • Proven ability to negotiate with internal clients, customers, engineers and operations and with external vendors, contractors, consultants and service providers.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or university in Engineering or Construction Management and eight (8) years related experience. Education requirement may be mitigated with proven applicable experience.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering , 10 years of related experience and Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
