Sr Energy Analyst

The Sr. Energy Analyst supervises the day to day operations of the Reedy Creek Improvement (RCID) energy supply portfolio including RCID’s hourly trading activity for electricity and natural gas. The position also evaluates and optimizes term transactions up to 6 months in duration, prepares short term load forecasts, and prepares the annual Electric and Natural Gas operating budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the RCID’s hourly trading desk for purchases and sales of natural gas and electricity while coordinating: fuel purchasing, consumption forecasting, electric generation, contract and interchange scheduling and operational impacts both internally and externally.
  • Analyzes and evaluates decision making processes for hourly, daily, and term transactions up to six months in duration.
  • Optimize energy costs by leveraging business relationships with business partners.
  • Develop energy tracking mechanisms, modeling methods, and modeling tools to assist in the decision making, transaction recording, and reconciliation processes of the trading desks.
  • Preparation of annual Electric and Natural Gas budgets incorporating inputs from Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES’s) Business Affairs leadership team, RCES Finance, and RCES operations.
  • Back office functions associated with wholesale electric and natural gas activity including reconciliation, and billing, reporting and coordinating for year-to-date and year-to-go billing and mid-year rate calculations.
  • Prepare comparative and summary reports for Management Team.
  • Coordinates OASIS requests, System Impact Studies, Transmission Service Agreements, and Designation of Network Resources with Transmission Providers.
  • Coordinates and communicates outage and testing schedules for internal and external resources generators and outage optimization.
  • Prepare regulatory reports for DOE, FERC, FPSC, NERC, and FRCC.
  • Prepare analysis for special projects as assigned by leader.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree - business, finance, economics or Industrial Engineering concentrations.
  • Proven understanding of electric and natural gas trading and tools required for the decision making process and to document transactions
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of OATI’s web based scheduling platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EXCEL and MSWORD
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electric Production Cost modeling software
  • Demonstrated understanding of utility contracts including interchange agreements, OATT, EEI, NAESB, FERC tariffs
  • Strong external business relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of Interchange/Generation and energy trading
  • Five (5) years managing the interchange, generation, and electric trading desk
  • Five (5) years managing the natural gas trading desk
  • Demonstrated understanding of natural gas pipeline nominations system

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree - business, finance, economics or Industrial Engineering concentrations.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
