Job Summary:

A Zoological Manager on the ASE animal care team is a leader in the Disney Company. They manage the daily operations related to aquatic animal care, are a management specialist in the aquarium profession, an engaged leader with other ASE managers and leaders, a partner to Park Operations, ASE Science and Animal Health and involved professional in the zoo and aquarium community. You will be reporting directly to the Assistant Animal Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Align personal, and team goals to AZA and IMATA Standards and ASE critical initiatives
  • Leader coverage for Seas Animal Care operation
  • Continuous focus on awareness and improvement of in all animal areas both Onstage and Offstage:
    • Animal welfare and wellbeing
    • Daily care
    • Veterinary care provision
    • Nutrition
    • Integration of behavioral management
    • Environmental upkeep and enrichment
  • Collection planning - focus on sustainability and improvement of collections in accordance with AZA and Disney policies/standards
  • Animal care/curatorial focus on continual improvement of acquisition, handling and transport of aquatic animals
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance to AZA accreditation standards as well as those of other State and Federal regulatory bodies
  • Guest-animal experience for specific collection from the animal/exhibit/animal care Cast perspective

Basic Qualifications:

  • You have the ability to obtain a valid Florida Driver License
  • You have animal management expertise and knowledge of how to coordinate and manage care of animals
  • Leading team of animal care professionals
  • Ability to deliver and receive constructive feedback to improve cast performance
  • You have experience with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Nine years combined animal management experience and post-high school education (30 semester credits per year), with at least five years of paid leadership experience at an AZA accredited or equivalent facility
  • You have the ability to swim

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience 5 years or more leading teams of animal professionals
  • Experience of 3 years or more with marine aquatic species
  • Experience with mixed-species exhibit animal management
  • Experience in operant conditioning, and animal enrichment
  • You are willing to become a certified diver

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education

  • College Associate degree or higher
