Job Summary:

Self-driven individual contributor as part of the Scientific Systems team under the Facility Services, assisting in troubleshooting of show control systems and equipment operational issues to develop short-term and life-cycle engineering solutions.  Perform software & hardware engineering tasks including engineering analysis, testing, requirements, maintenance, inspection procedures and installation.  Successful candidate must be able to work with multiple stakeholders and partners from all levels of the organization to determine data and requirements driven technical solutions. Applicant with less experience will be considered as Controls Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing investigative and resolution support for Hong Kong Disneyland attractions for sustainment and improvement of safety level, show quality and reliability

  • Providing technical support for fulfilling attractions related regulatory requirement (annual ride safety examination)

  • Undertaking, supporting Integrated Facility Planning (IFP) projects on attraction system, component replacement, upgrade or rehabilitation for asset life cycle management

  • Integrating show control systems for attractions.  Create, develop, maintain, debug, document, and release software

  • Create, design, modify, revise and release hardware and wiring drawings and schematics

  • Participation in park development/expansion projects to build new attractions


Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Eng., Electronic Eng., Mechatronic Eng., Computer Eng., Computer Science, Communication Eng., or equivalent

Basic Experience / Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in design, engineering, software programming, implementation, installation, testing and commissioning of automation and computer controlled electromechanical systems, robotics systems

  • Proficient in software programming language (IEC 61131-3 LAD, ST, C, C++, C#, Delphi)

  • Proficient in system integration and configuration of automation and show control systems

  • Experience in network communication protocol (TCP/IP, Serial, DMX)

  • Experience in working with automation, robotics, controllers, I/O, HMI, MCC, field devices (sensors, actuators), servo drives and motors

  • Proficient in developing and reading electrical schematics and single-line diagrams using AutoCAD

  • Hands-on experience and skills in computerized system troubleshooting, fault analysis using digital data logger and software

  • Understanding of Functional Safety standards, experience in working with safety PLC & I/O systems and devices

  • Knowledge in MS Windows OS, IT, TCP, IP network, VLAN and network security

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in programming with Beckhoff automation tools (TwinCAT 2, TwinCAT3, Visual Studio, TwinCAT HMI)

  • Familiarity with different industrial communication protocols and standards (EtherCAT, EAP, EtherNet/IP, CAN), SMPTE timecode, OPC server

  • Experience in administration and setup of Linux OS

  • Knowledge and experience in cybersecurity in OT or ICS environment
