We are seeking a Lead Analyst – Trading & Retention to join our DisneyLife team based in Hammersmith on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting new role to join a team working on a direct to consumer experience which will engage our guests across both digital and physical channels and we are looking for an Analyst to provide value-added insight to help to drive both performance and customer experience.

Disney Life is a growing digital membership service that gives the whole family access to the biggest collection of Disney and Disney Pixar movies, Disney Channels’ TV box sets, books, and music, in one place. Designed to be enjoyed at home or on-the-go as an iOS or Android app for tablet or mobile, it allows fans to explore Disney stories and characters through a rich and colourful interface.


The BI & Analytics team is responsible for developing a strategy and vision to ensure that our analytics infrastructure supports the Digital DTC Product, Commercial and Tech agenda. This role is extremely important to the wider business as reliable analytics are a critical enabler for the growth and success of our products and applications.
As part of this team, the Lead Analyst – Trading & Retention will work with the Product, Finance, Commercial, Tech and Customer Service teams, but will be primarily focused on partnering with the Marketing Acquisition & Customer Retention teams.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing strong relationships with stakeholders to reach a deeper understanding of DisneyLife trading initiatives.
  • Using the power of our data and insight to understand and influence key decisions that impact sales and retention KPI’s
  • Owning and evolving insight and reporting needed for Sales and retention KPI’s
  • Consolidating and prioritising data and insight requirements and creating coherent insight plans to provide an integrated view of customers, marketing, sales, operations and finance
  • Driving out the relationships between acquisition channel, engagement and tenure
  • Applying descriptive and predictive analytics to drive out churn drivers and engagement behaviours to improve tenure
  • Owning and evolving LTV metrics
  • Building and maintaining statistical models for commercial application (segmentations, clustering and propensity models)
  • Developing and maintaining strategies for different business areas; track performance of customer management actions taken by the business and its impact on tenure
  • Diagnosing and then articulate reasons for underperformance in certain segments and possible improvement actions

The analytical areas this role will need to exploit are:
  • Behavioural: Customer behaviour and consumption
  • Customer: Retention, Engagement and management
  • Voice of customer: analysis of customer engagement impact from performance issues
  • Segmentation & Modelling: Based on customer behaviour
  • Experimentation: measurement of A/B testing activities in relation to enhancing customer engagement

This is an operational role with direct influence into shaping the global analytics strategy for Disney’s Digital DTC business. It is a given that the Senior BI & Data Analyst will be both passionate about, and proficient in analytics – but for this person also needs to be highly proactive, hands on, and be happy working on both the detail of execution and the broader challenges of ensuring that analytics creates value within our business.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience mining, integrating and extracting insights from large and disperse datasets (Viewing web and apps behaviour, voice of customer, CRM, experimentation, social) and translating them into clear and precise business conclusions and recommendations.
  • Comfortable communicating data insights to large matrix organizations – aware of the complexities of communicating in a crystal clear and crisp way that avoids any potential confusion.
  • Experience interacting with commercial, content, product and technical teams, managing demand and expectations for analytics insights.
  • Skilled at SQL writing and querying relational databases.
  • Experience of applying different segmentation techniques to meet business needs
  • Recent and detailed knowledge of digital analytics tools (specifically Omniture).
  • Experience with websites and apps behavioural analytics (pathing, attribution modelling, acquisition channels, etc.), shaping cross-channel user journeys and product related improvements.
  • Experience in defining measurement frameworks and utilisation of web analytics tools / solutions to deliver insight in a multi-screen world.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience of exploiting viewing and product usage data within an SVOD subscription service
  • Familiarity with SAS, R, Python, Matlab or any other data analysis software.
  • Experience with BI reporting and data visualisation solutions (OBIEE, Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview, Microstrategy
