A great opportunity to join Disney's Creative team in Hammersmith, west London - working on the Product Development of soft toys across our EMEA markets.
The role is responsible for supporting the Product Development team in initiating, developing and managing the plush soft toys business across Europe. Working through the Hong Kong Trading Company, liaising with Vendors (Manufacturers) and maintaining and developing the European Distributor relationships.
Design & Development
Assists in the managing of the design projects.
Aiding the team in defining the line of products to be launched at European level.
Designing products and packaging in coordination with the creative teams.
Cost engineering to modify product to meet target costs.
Managing design and pre-production samples approval.
Project Management/ Logistics
Aiding in the negotiation of prices, deliveries and quantities via our Hong Kong Office.
Aiding in the management of the relationship with Hong Kong and China Trading companies and vendors.
Coordinating the sales and marketing samples that are required by the distributors.
Sending all samples to relevant vendors and customers.
Coordinating specific requests via our Hong Kong Office (packaging, samples, special development +).
Interfaces with vendors on ‘specials / promotions’.
Team administration of line planning and distribution documentation
To be the team “go to” for OPA. our approvals software - ensuring all plush and packaging elements are raised and closed accordingly.
The post-holder will also be involved in:
Liaising and co-ordinating with the other product development teams in the other toy and apparel categories
Assisting in the organisation of the bi-annual distributor meetings.
- A degree in Design, Creative or Business related field preferred
- Negotiating skills
- Experience of liaising with 3rd party international vendors/ suppliers would be an advantage.
- Range planning – an ability to define a range based on market assessment.
- Creative and innovation skills.
- Possess the design ability to aid in simple product concepts and packaging.
- An understanding of brand values is an advantage.
- Understands the dynamics and challenges (and thrives) in a matrix – structured organisation.
- 2nd EMEA language an advantage but not essential
