The position also supports the Disney travel business, including Disneyland Paris (DLP) and Disney Destinations International (DDI)/Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC), in particular for Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line, and supervises a contract manager for that business. The position is on an EMEA scope for WDW and DCL and mostly focused on UK/Ireland for DLP.
The position requires a lawyer with English law qualification, exposure to general contract and commercial law, digital and e-commerce issues, established drafting skills and the ability to handle multiple competing matters with a commercial mind-set.
The role reports to Associate Principal counsel in EMEA and Principal Counsel for Commercial Affairs DLP.
Responsibilities:-Providing continuing support to the CMC (contract management centre) for the drafting and negotiation of certain merchandise and publishing license agreements throughout EMEA.
-Provision of general legal advice on commercial and competition law issues arising from the merchandise and publishing licensing businesses, travel and retail/e-commerce business.
-Providing general legal support to the business on new business models and retail matters, including on global supply chain management issues, direct sourcing, intellectual property and consumer law.
-Provide advice on legal issues relating to intellectual property licensing and related activities, including reviewing style guides and licensee packaging and marketing materials.
-Ad hoc support to CPC Communications, ILS and PI in EMEA for CPC matters, promotions and retail activations falling within CPC scope.
-Providing legal support on general corporate matters impacting the CPC business (such as tax legislation and corporate governance).
-Advice on regulatory issues around DDI/WDTC currently supporting Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line in EMEA and DLP in UK/Ireland.
-Providing continuing legal support to DLP and DDI/WDTC in relation to Travel-related matters, including websites, media, promotions, consumer law, trade and vendor contracts, e-commerce, booking terms and conditions, Guest claims and litigation, etc.
-Management of a contract manager assisting with the travel business.
Basic Qualifications:-5 years PQE or equivalent work experience
-Proven experience negotiating and drafting contracts for a law firm advising major corporate clients and/or in a corporate legal department (intellectual property licensing experience preferred), ideally in an international environment.
-English law qualification
-Contract, IP, tourism, consumer and commercial law expertise (including knowledge of EU laws)
-Contractual responsibilities in business delivery
-Knowledge of competition law
-Understanding of different contractual types and structures
-Understanding of digital distribution issues relating to apps, e-commerce and e-publishing products.
-Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
-Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
-Methodical and meticulous
-Accurate completion of license agreements within agreed timelines
-Communication of legal matters to non-legal audience
Additional Information:Requires some travel across the region and Paris.
