JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview:

Twentieth Century Studios is seeking a Manager, Production Finance to oversee all financial aspects of feature films in stages of prep, production, post, and post-release. The manager will support Production Finance Executives on the direct management of assigned projects, provide guidance to production accountants on financial issues, ensure accurate reporting of EFCs/tax incentives and manage Studio Controllership reporting deliverables.

The ideal candidate must excel in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment. Must be a self-starter and work effectively in a team as well as autonomously.  The ideal candidate must be able to analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, and prioritize a demanding workload. Strong written and verbal communication skills are highly desirable as the position involves frequent interactions with studio and production personnel of all levels.

The position will be heavily involved in the post-acquisition integration with Disney and be integral in applying and implementing new processes, documenting workflows, and managing process change.

This position reports to the Director, Production Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with Production Finance Execs to oversee all financial aspects of assigned projects; act as lead in managing lower budget projects.

  • Ensure all show related information, including EFCs and tax incentive estimates, are accurately reported and maintained in the Production Finance reporting database.

  • Act as a key resource to production accountants on studio policies and procedures; provide guidance on corporate structure, flow of funding and intercompany journal entries or bill backs.

  • Review production budgets, cash flow, funding requests and weekly closing reports for completeness and accuracy; identify and escalate any anomalies to the Production Finance Executive.

  • Prepare co-financing forecasts and true-ups with co-financing partners.

  • Manage the production cash flow reporting, including forecast, actuals and plan, for all feature projects; analyze and review variances and variance explanations for reasonableness.

  • Manage quarterly studio reporting deliverables, including EFCs, tax credits and trial balances.

  • Work with the Production Tax team on status of tax incentives, review tax incentive estimates and analyze changes for reasonableness.

  • Manage the Production Finance reporting database and work with IT on improvements/transition.

  • Perform on location production audits as needed.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities with focus on driving efficiency, transparency and collaboration across the studio.

  • Manage special projects and ad-hoc reports as needed.

  • Supervise the work of a Senior Financial Analyst.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 year of finance and accounting experience with 4 years of direct production finance experience

  • Knowledge of union/guild agreements

  • Knowledge of domestic and international tax incentives

  • Acute attention to detail; ability to effectively review the work of others and develop a system to catch errors

  • Ability to anticipate and think ahead

  • Advanced problem-solving skills; often can see a simple solution to complex problems

  • Team player who maintains a high level of professionalism when working with colleagues and other studio partners

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage priority changes

  • Passionate about entertainment industry and production finance/accounting

  • Experience working with production accounting software, such as PSL, Global Vista and Smart Accounting

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Finance or Accounting
