JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Help Desk ticketing system to log, track and prioritize requests and issues.
  • Manages resolution of issues by coordinating appropriate resources and serves as an escalation point for technical issues and concerns.
  • Reviews business unit requests for technology and works with Director to determine recommendations on alternative system options.
  • Manages staff assignments and deliverables ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Participates in the development of operational plans and executes specific components of the plan as they pertain to the area.
  • Manages hardware and software upgrades and archival of data as required to ensure technology environment is current.
  • Ensures continuous delivery of technical and support services through direct oversight of staff and systems.
  • Manages Help Desk change control approvals.
  • Provides input to initiation and analysis activities including Project Charter development, Cost Benefit Analysis, Request for Information and Request for Proposals.
  • Ensures all Production Technology standards and best practices are followed.
  • Works closely with core IT functions (i.e. architecture, applications, networking, and security) and managers of related initiatives to ensure proper integration.
  • Participates in discussions regarding current and anticipated service requirements and alternative approaches.
  • Interacts with clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues, assist with education of IT trends & technology, and streamline processes and procedures.
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
  • Maintain, monitor and update equipment leases and service agreements as appropriate.
  • Oversees software license management including negotiating licenses, procuring software, and renewing agreements.
  • Purchases hardware and software, including: Researching, Buying, Setting Standards, and Vendor Relations.
  • Build strong teams that are technically competent and characterized by a high level of coordination and trust.
  • Tracks attendance, coordinates vacation schedules and approves timesheets of Production employees.
  • Oversees Facilities Management for Operations offices, including phones, alarms, keys, E-waste, etc.
  • Strategically guides Operations Team to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives
  • Evaluates new software to determine the appropriateness for use within DTS, and works with Disney GIS determine compliance.
  • Works with network engineers to ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure departmental effectiveness and compliance with applicable laws and agency policies.
  • Remains on the forefront of emerging industry practices and stays abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology.
  • Server Management oversight, including: VMware, Windows, Hardware, Storage, OS updates, backups, Certificates (Sr Systems mgr will handle day to day operations)
  • Develop, implement and periodically update the Disney IT's disaster recovery plan and computer resources back-up and security systems.
  • Legacy Windows Domain management oversight, including: Servers, Active Directory (SD), groups, Organizational Units (OUs), DHCP, etc.
  • Azure Domain management oversight, including: Servers, Active Directory (SD), groups, Organizational Units (OUs), DHCP, etc.
  • Manages server environmental alerts and alarms generated to other IT team members.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, MIS or related field required. Extensive technical and supervisory experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Eight years’ experience managing and/or directing technological and support operations.
  • Requires experience in all facets of project planning, implementation, and evaluation in a team-centered work environment. Must have excellent leadership and EQ with ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct projects.
  • Requires excellent knowledge of technology and support environments, including: cloud computing, computing hardware, software, networking, etc.
  • Knowledge of television production a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles and proven experience in planning, organization and implementation required.
  • Must have ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical staff in presentations and in writing.
  • Must be a strategic thinker with excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a fast-moving and stressful environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and develop creative, effective, efficient solutions.
  • Experience working on and managing a support team
