JOB DESCRIPTION

The Walt Disney Television Networks Engineering and Operations Group (NE&O) is seeking a Media Technician. This position is responsible for the entire media supply chain for all assets which includes the validating, archiving, tracking, restoring and delivery of all media assets supporting NE&O and their clients.  This position is responsible for the maintenance and organization of all metadata associated with various media assets, in order to ensure easy accessibility.

The Walt Disney Television Networks Engineering and Operations Group is the group that is singularly responsible for the receipt, uplink, delivery and distribution of Disney-owned FX and National Geographic Networks, as well as the networks of Fox Corp. NE&O is a 24/7 mission critical operation which supports business units in six distinct locations – three (3) in Los Angeles, California (Pico, Playa del Rey and 1440 Sepulveda); one (1) in The Woodlands, TX; one (1) in San Francisco, CA; and one (1) in New York, NY.  Overall, NE&O has over 1000 full-time equivalent employees.  Candidates who seek employment with NE&O must be available to work 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the entire media supply chain for all assets which includes filling media requests for all NE&O departments and various internal and external clients.
  • Processes media through various production asset management systems and adds metadata when required. 
  • Analyzes QC reports to identify any problematic media that doesn’t meet NE&O broadcast standard.
  • Catalogs and audits material in Media Center Media Asset Management (MAM) database to ensure quick and accurate retrieval of media assets. Manages multiple storage tiers on premises and Cloud and sets policies for retainment and purging of media.
  • Fulfills requests from various groups such as Broadcast Operations and Fox Sports to ensure media needed for broadcast is restored in timely manner. Maintains and catalogs library to ensure all assets are easily located to fulfill client requests.
  • Responsible for successfully onboarding external clients for file deliveries and communicating any technical abnormalities to the clients.
  • Creates weekly reports providing media status updates.
  • Drives to offsite storage facility to retrieve archived material and assist in recycling legacy physical materials
  • Works closely with Technical Director in creating Standard Operating Procedures for new workflows, testing of new software launches and MAM’s,

Required Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management. 
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and to think and work in multiple time zones.
  • Ability to touch type a minimum of 25 WPM.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays and weekends.  
  • Ability to work independently and be resourceful. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while multitasking with attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent follow-up skills. 
  • Extremely good organizational skills and customer services skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under daily time constraints in a high pressure environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • One or more years of experience in a fast-paced corporate or production environment. 
  • Knowledge of Media Asset Management (MAM) systems and workflow orchestrators. 
  • Experience with digital file processing and delivery preferred.
