Disney Television Studios Production Systems and Technology team is seeking a technology leader with hands-on, comprehensive experience in vendor management, payroll service company system solutions, TV pre-production, production and post-production operations, and a successful track record of developing and supporting cutting-edge systems and solutions tailored specifically for TV production.
Responsibilities
Support studio production execs, their teams, and their shows in their dealings with third party vendors
Requires an in-depth knowledge of the large and complex production line of business and the associated systems.
Expertise in the intricate union payroll details such as above-the-line vs. below-the line, payrates and rules such as overtime, golden time, and holiday pay rates, meal grace and penalties, out of zone payments.
Manage multiple vendors and systems involved in this production process, including digital onboarding, digital timecards, production accounting, budgeting, and hot cost estimating.
Identify potential vendor system offerings for evaluation
Evaluate potential vendor system offerings by conducting testing and gap analysis
Assist the business, legal and sourcing with contract negotiations by providing subject matter expertise in the areas of product functionality and support requirements
Conduct pre-release acceptance testing when existing vendors release new or upgraded software
Facilitate issue resolution for use of vendor software. Issues may be critical in nature as timely and accurate compensation for talent and crew are at stake. This includes coordination between the vendor, the business and various Disney technology teams
Product (system) delivery using agile methodologies and cloud-based technologies.
This role requires experience in building and delivering systems for using state of the art technologies and methodologies
Lead and / or participate in agile, matrixed teams comprising of vendor, Disney business and Disney technical resources to deliver system solutions for production
Engage and collaborate with business partners at various levels across multiple production studios.
Leverage subject matter expertise in production to partner with business stakeholders to evaluate business requirements to advise technology teams on best functional solutions
Maintain the data integrity of DTS data lake
Production data is largely hosted by third party vendors
Spearhead ongoing efforts to receive data feeds from our vendors and storing in our data lake, alongside the data from various Disney systems, to provide the business with reports / analytics that allow them to comprehensively understand and evaluate their business
Development and management of the data feeds from vendors including data curation and developing reports / analytics for the business based on the data.
Lead efforts for data curation and analytics / reporting
Desired Characteristics
Minimum 15 years of experience in technology and media / entertainment including experience in physical production
The ability to represent DTS to our business stakeholders, vendors, and internal partners in a professional and positive manner, creating positive working relationships
In depth knowledge and current experience with systems development methodology and toolsets
Strong organizational skills, ability to create and manage or participate in multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, strong ability to influence cross functionally
Attention to detail, high level of initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to demonstrate good business judgement
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, fast learning, adaptable team player
Capable of presenting complex technical / business concepts internally, to all levels of the organization, including the most senior leaders, and ensures alignment with leader on high-level prioritization and decision-making
Champions change in adoption of new tools and methods
Experience developing cloud-based applications
Experience managing external vendor relationships
Exceptional problem analyzing skills and designing solutions
Excellent interpersonal, administrative, analytical and presentation skills
A passion for understanding and supporting the business
Technology / business training / certifications a plus
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
The hiring range for this position in California is $136,038 - $182,490 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
