Job Summary:

We are hiring a Digital Insights Analyst on an initial 12 month fixed term contract based in Melbourne. The Digital Insights Analyst will work closely with our Tech Lead & Product Managers to develop and execute our insights strategy, a critical role in helping define our business objectives through a deep understanding of our users and their behavior.

The successful candidate will understand our assets intimately and how our fans engage with them, using this knowledge to inform the digital team on how to drive engagement, define product improvements and deliver clear commercial outcomes.

We’re looking for a creative and curious digital native, who loves to dig into the data to define user stories that better understand our fans and deliver what they want. They make data-led decisions and use analytics to support their insights and recommendations. They will lead and participate in internal and external Workshops. They also actively support the Product Managers and helps build required Business Cases that support the future investment required to drive the product forward.

They must have a proven track record of using key insights tools such as Adobe Analytics, have developed high quality products for a consumer-facing company with significant scale, as well as in-depth experience with Agile & Scrum methodology. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, an outstanding relationship builder, and an excellent communicator capable of multi-regional, multi-timezone collaboration.


Product collaboration and insights:
  • Working closely with Product Managers and our Content & Tech leads, develop data & analytics reporting for digital products across Disney & ESPN.
  • Provide analysis & insights of digital properties via Adobe Analytics suite; through the use of robust dashboards. Manage ad-hoc requests from other lines of business.
  • Give strong data input to inform the writing of user stories that clearly articulate the expected outcome of a User story/Use case.
  • Supports the Disney creative solutions, sales product teams to support click tracking and data consumption of our audience and provide recommendations for where we can ‘move the needle’.
  • Research industry trends and run regular internal showcases to help inform other team members and stakeholders of emerging and best practices.
  • Informs and updates third-party vendors and developers with data insights as required.
Driving business outcomes with Data insights:
  • Interrogate databases and datasets to compliment and support insights derived from web analytics products (e.g. Adobe Analytics)
  • Working with Product Managers, develop digital roadmap with supporting data, analytics, user stories and other information as needed.
  • Working with the Product Managers, ESPN & Disney, ensure ongoing commitment to Agile & Scrum processes and ceremonies, to industry best practice standards.
  • Supports the tech & content teams with insights to help ensure clear momentum across projects towards achieving our goals.
  • Believes passionately in data to drive story-telling and understand user behaviour.
  • Interrogate databases and datasets to compliment and support insights derived from web analytics products (e.g. Adobe Analytics)
Product evangelism/communication (internal + external)
  • Escalate any data issues to ensure confidence in the data and insights.
  • Evangelise data-driven decisions cross the business.
  • Provide input on KPIs and OKRs to meet business objectives whilst tracking additional metrics to provide transparency on progress towards reaching business goals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working in digital product for a consumer-facing product with scale
  • Expert level knowledge of the Adobe Analytics suite highly desirable
  • Expertise in other analytics tools (Power BI, Looker etc) highly desirable
  • Passionate about the digital landscape and insatiable interest in emerging trends and opportunities across the sports & entertainment industries
  • Strong experience / knoweldge of design across complex enterprise systems.
  • Proven experience applying systematic analytical approaches to complex situations, structuring and ordering inputs to create a coherent, compelling vision
  • Understanding of the overall entertainment industry, with a passion for user experience and engaging content
  • Experience of working within a matrix structure with multiple key stakeholders, both locally and overseas
  • Experience in Agile software development methodology and demonstrated experience in driving Agile software development sprints and processes
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through completion and the skills to either resolve or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Excellent knowledge of collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Trello, Slack and other products.
