Job Summary:

The Insights Analyst is responsible for helping to develop and carry out the research and insights strategy, which involves identifying and communicating actionable insights to promote data-driven decision-making at The Walt Disney Company in Australia and New Zealand. The Insights Analyst will be a creative and curious business enthusiast who keeps up to date with current and emerging trends across the media, entertainment, retail and technology sectors. They will be an integral part of the Strategy & Insights team, that works closely with the territory Managing Director, CFO and local Leadership Team on key issues of strategic importance, spanning across all local business areas including: Disney Streaming Services, Studios, Media Distribution, Stage/Live Events, Retail and Channels.


Research and Insights Generation
  • Work with senior business unit executives and help to identify, prioritise and coordinate core research & insights needs that are aligned to key strategic outcomes for Australia & New Zealand
  • Assist in the management of relationships as required with external agencies and vendors and support ongoing review process to ensure best selection of 3rd party providers
  • Scope and run deep dive market research & insights projects, drawing in perspectives and objectives from multiple teams and areas of the business
  • Establish and maintain ongoing tracker/periodic market research & insights projects including those driven from the US
  • Keep updated on news and issues explored in the media, including communicating key industry news within the business
  • Generate consumer, business, content, brand and competitive insights to inform investment decisions and strategic plans
  • Create compelling, persuasive presentation materials to communicate key learnings and recommendations to senior level executives
  • Align and work with internal Brand Management & Insights teams based in the US and Asia-Pacific
Data Management
  • Take responsibility across a number of regular data-related tasks, to build, maintain and analyse longitudinal data sets that integrate data from multiple sources, within the business as well as 3rd party data
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from around the business to create appropriate access to information via data visualisation and/or other tools and processes
Strategy & Business Development Collaboration
  • Support strategic and business development projects to ensure quality and consistency of data and insights used and collaborate to leverage these to deliver action-oriented recommendations
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a consistent dataset and repository of consumer & brand insights that can be easily accessed and leveraged by the business
  • Contribute to Australia & New Zealand consumer segmentation analysis and integration with business planning
Project Management
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects at any one time and with minimal direction from the Strategy Manager and wider Strategy & Insights team
  • Work effectively with team members throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as in other areas of The Walt Disney Company

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a research consultant or analyst, in a research/insights agency or consultative environment, overseeing primary quantitative research projects, data analysis and insights generation to drive business outcomes, within a research agency, management consulting firm, professional services firm or corporate insights team
  • Experience with digital marketing evaluation and some knowledge of media planning, strategy & evaluation strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and data management skills:
    • Brief-to-debrief experience including survey design, methodology and analysis
    • Sound quantitative skills (including proficiency in Q/SPSS)
    • Ability to organise and manage large and/or disparate data sets, distil key trends/take-outs from these and communicate key insights, including graphically and verbally
    • Familiarity with key local market data sources & limitations e.g. ABS
    • Ability to create and drive story-led reporting, grounded in narrative and data visualisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work well and communicate with a variety of business partners and diverse stakeholders
    • Discreet and able to follow strict commercial confidentiality disciplines

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
