Management Accountant

Job Summary:

The role will be responsible for Financial Planning and Analysis reporting plus on-going analysis of the business performance for the three main pillars of the Fox Studios Australia business; Studio Production Services, Commercial leasing services and Lighting and textile hire.

The position requires a diligent self-starter who can take ownership of the role and is fundamental in driving the company forward. The desire for continuous improvement and ability to identify business improvements is a key element for the role. The finance team is lean requiring a dedicated team player.

Key aspects of the role are:
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Capital Expenditure Management
  • Strategic Review and Analysis
  • Liaise with the Fox Studios team to ensure all information is accurate and up to date with current business assumptions

Responsibilities:

Monthly Reporting
  • Detailed analysis of operational P&Ls, working with the Financial Accountant to adjust results as required and preparation of month end close processes
  • Manage monthly meetings with business area leads to review operational and financial results and plan for future activities
  • Review of operational activities with Senior Finance Manager and creation of monthly dashboard for presentation to Finance Director and FSA Managing Director
  • Extraction of financial data to compile management reports and dashboards for presentation of monthly results to FSA team
  • Review and consolidation of results for all FSA related entities
Budgeting and Long-Range Planning
  • Preparation of quarterly forecasts in an accurate and timely manner
  • Regular meetings with operational business area leads for input into business changes and to plan out key strategic initiatives for the new financial year
  • Assisting with the preparation of Annual Operating Plan in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Director to strategically review a long-range plan for the business with a 5 & 10-year horizon
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager with all submissions and LRP reviews
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the budget and planning cycles
Capital Expenditure Management
  • Maintain and administer the fixed assets register, including disposals, acquisitions and depreciation
  • Capital expenditure budget management including monthly reconciliation and forecasting
  • Capex reporting and analysis including providing insights on ROI of larger projects
Business Processes
  • General system maintenance
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation and accounting policies to uphold and strengthen internal controls
  • Identify areas and take the lead role for process improvements to improve business outcomes and financial integrity
  • Provide financial support to the business on various improvement projects and adhoc business improvements
Strategic Review and Analysis
  • Assist in creating strategic documents to enable critical review of the three main pillars of the business, Studio production service, Commercial leasing services and Lighting and textile hire
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders to understand and key drivers for success and carefully map out operational necessities
  • Analyse the key internal strengths and weakness for these businesses and identify external opportunities and threats than may exist
  • Assist the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Director to make key recommendations for the future of each of these businesses so they can stay attuned to the changing landscape
  • Work with production accountants on production reporting as required
  • Contribute to and implement a range of finance projects, plans, tools, processes and systems to respond to future financial management challenges
  • Other duties as required, including providing ad-hoc financial modelling and analytic support and assisting the Commercial Team as directed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Finance
  • 2-4 years’ experience in finance
  • CA/CPA qualifications, or working towards
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting
  • High levels of analytical ability
  • Microsoft Office – advanced
  • Excel – advanced
  • PowerPoint – highly skilled
