Disney+ Hotstar

Disney+ Hotstar, part of Disney Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), is one of the largest premium streaming and mobile entertainment platforms with more than 150,000 hours of drama and movies in 9 languages, and coverage of every major global sporting event. Hotstar has launched its premium service DisneyPlus Hotstar in India, Indonesia, and Hotstar in UK, US, Canada, etc. It is still expanding its footprint to more international markets. We are going to unleash a vast catalog of new and classic movies and shows to stream, boasting nearly 500 movies and 7,500 TV episodes from Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, National Geographic and Disney's eponymous studios in SEA market and beyond. Disney+ Hotstar accounts for roughly 30% of Disney+’s subscriber base so far — which roughly translates to 26 million as of Q4, 2020. and 350 million followers on the back of a highly evolved video streaming technology and high attention to quality of experience across devices and platforms. Hotstar has appropriated top spots on the Google Play Store as well as the Apple App Store, and been named among the most popular apps of 2017 on both platforms. Live sports in particular has seen a huge surge with over 25 millions concurrent viewerships and generating 10 billion click stream messages daily for a single live event on Hotstar, especially as audiences turn to mobile as the primary screen for cricket updates and streaming. This is the largest on the Akamai platform for any live sporting event in the world and the largest for any single event online by a broadcaster. Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company’s content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company’s streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar; and domestic broadcast and cable television networks. About the Team:
Looking for an opportunity to move fast and make a global impact? We are looking for an enthusiastic Leader for the “International Expansion” team who can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment. This team’s charter is committed to  transform the depth, scale and reach of Disney+ Hotstar globally, and to localize product experiences  and successfully impact consumer base and experiences in these new markets

As International Markets Lead, you will collaborate cross-functionally with the leaders of product,  engineering, legal, international business & external teams to launch Disney+ Hotstar into new regions. You will influence key product decisions, roadmap, define functional requirements, high level processes, manage all aspects of the project execution – understanding business requirements and planning the execution, managing the project schedule, resolving or mitigating issues and risks, and communicating results throughout the organization. You bring clarity in a chaotic situation. You have analytical capabilities, strong writing skills, a strategic mindset, enjoy and excel at working with tech teams.

About role:

Lead the overall international markets expansion program strategy and execution for Disney+ Hotstar including  market entry strategy, decision making on primary markets of focus, determination of target customer and channel strategy, resource allocation, product and service value offerings, brand positioning, and creation of an operating model to deliver against our business growth targets and consumer experience ambition Develop and expand a high performing team that owns the strategic roadmap and end-to-end launch and implementation (content ops, performance marketing, pricing, etc,.) to ensure a consistent high-bar on excellence and project delivery. Ensure alignment on Disney+ Hotstar payment strategy in all international markets Maintain device enablement and support ownership across all target markets, with emphasis on Disney+ Hotstar Develop/ finetune product and service models that impact the core value proposition of Disney+ Hotstar as we expand internationally. Conduct market research and feasibility analysis leveraging primary and secondary sources and industry relationships,  around market size and growth potential, customer, competition, channel analysis, investment medium analysis, etc.) to finetune international expansion roadmap from development, testing, launch to sustenance  Collaborate effectively with product, engineering, sales, content and marketing teams to eliminate friction across the organization to identify critical business needle movers, influence and shape international expansion roadmap and to accelerate time to market across target countries Lead the effective and efficient delivery of large complex cross-functional mini-projects under the broader international expansion program. Collaborate with APAC and EMEA market launch leaders for best practices Responsible for end to end conceptualization and execution of key strategic projects like country launches, country growth initiatives etc. Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels

Skills & experience:

12+ years working in consumer technology companies Prior experience of complex program management at global scale; demonstrated ability to translate strategic initiatives into detailed operational plans. Strong entrepreneurial and ownership mindset Bias to action, proactive & innovative by nature Strong research and analytical acumen Ability to deal with ambiguity Strong attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working with multiple teams and stakeholders across the company
