In October of 2022, Industrial Light & Magic opened its studio in Mumbai, India. The youngest of all the ILM studios, the India studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at Industrial Light & Magic combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. Knowledge and culture flow freely between the company’s five studios and the global team shares tools and workflow allowing for seamless collaboration on all projects.
As we grow ILM India, we are seeking an HR Business Partner to be one of the first members of our team and be a key part of this exciting opportunity.
The HR Business Partner works closely with the Senior Manager, HR Business Partner, and provides day-to-day leadership to HR for the ILM Mumbai studio. This includes ensuring managers are provided with support and employees' questions and needs are addressed in a timely and quality manner. They will play an active role in understanding the business, operations and troubleshooting, problem solving and interpreting various workplace situations in the context of policy, process, and employment law. They will also be involved in on-boarding, employee relations and exit process for employees across the studio. The HR Business Partner will also provide guidance to more junior members of the studio HR team who support administrative, operational, and transactional aspects of HR management.
What You’ll Do
Provide day-to-day HR support and offer pragmatic HR solutions to meet business needs
Partners effectively with HR functions (i.e., recruitment, D&I, training) to deliver solutions
Maintain trusted partnerships with managers, employees, and HR teams
Enable strategic business initiatives through delivery of people strategies
Develop, maintain, and demonstrate working knowledge of business to provide solutions
Influence business leaders to take long-term view to engage and retain top talent
Work closely with leaders to build morale, productivity, and org effectiveness
Assist managers in effective performance management and development of employees
Partner with the HR manager in the delivery of annual comp and performance planning activities
Regularly monitors employee survey and shares trends and recommendations to leadership
Maintains headcount tracking and day to day headcount management for the studio
Assists and organizes studio-wide initiatives, events and programming as required.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelors in HR, Business or related field or equivalent work experience
4+ years’ experience as HR Business partner or HR functional experience Partnering with diverse functional groups and executive level leadership
Strong business acumen with a keen aptitude to quickly assimilate new information.
Proven ability to effectively interact with all organizational levels in a multicultural environment and build strong relationships.
Excellent consulting and conflict management skills.
Experience working with senior executives in an “influence-without-authority” role.
Experience, exposure, and comfort with a variety of HR facets including organization development, employee relations, talent acquisition, learning & development, and/or compensation.
Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Advanced level skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smart Sheets
SAP or Workday experience. GSuite experience a plus.
Working knowledge and application of regional employment law
Preferred Skills/Competencies:
Experience in Media or Production environments.
Experience in VFX industry.
Project management experience.
Experience working in a large, global, creative, matrixed environment.
