In October of 2022, Industrial Light & Magic opened its studio in Mumbai, India. The youngest of all the ILM studios, the India studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at Industrial Light & Magic combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. Knowledge and culture flow freely between the company’s five studios and the global team shares tools and workflow allowing for seamless collaboration on all shared projects.
As we grow ILM India, we are seeking a Senior Manager, HR Business Partner to be one of the first members of our team and be a key part of this exciting opportunity.
The Senior Manager, HR Business Partner will be responsible for leading the local ILM Mumbai HR organization and providing direction to all HR processes and service standards and quality delivery to leadership and employees. As a senior member of the global ILM HR team, they are responsible for defining, developing, and implementing strategic HR initiatives to improve organizational performance and develop organizational capability. They will act as partner and coach to the head of studio and consult with the studio leadership team on performance management, compensation, employee relations, policy and procedures, retention of key-talent, change management, communications, and organizational effectiveness.
The position will be responsible for studio set-up during the first 24 months, including an aggressive 48-month growth period, and will eventually support an organization of approximately 700 employees.
What You’ll Do
Develop, implement, and sustain all HR programs for the studio to support growth plans
Create HR strategy to enable recruitment and retention of key talent in the market
Provide leadership and serve as an integrator across HR functions (i.e., TA, Comp, etc.)
Act as coach and strategic advisor to head of studio and senior leadership team
Hire, develop, retain and provide guidance and coaching to studio HR team members
Champion and advocate for HR strategic initiatives to enable the business
Acts as subject matter expert and provides HR advice and counsel across the studio
Addresses employee relations and compliance issues
Escalate issues to head of studio or HR Director when appropriate
Partner closely with regional, Studios and Lucasfilm Legal, Finance and HR teams
Interpret policy and ensure policies and processes are clearly communicated and implemented and helps provide insight to shape and guide global initiatives by providing local context and employment law references.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 10 years' experience in a fast-paced business environment with a minimum of 5-7 years' experience as a business partner, providing HR leadership and guidance to senior leadership.
Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business or equivalent experience.
Experience in the entertainment industry preferred, especially familiarity with show production environment
Demonstrated success in facilitating the achievement of strategic business goals.
Excellent understanding of employee relations and local employment law.
Direct experience planning and managing organizational change initiatives.
Must have strong interpersonal, problem resolution, mediation, negotiation, and consulting skills and a demonstrated track record of successfully collaborating with senior leadership.
Proven ability to successfully plan and implement effective interventions to business problems and maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Comfort in dealing with/leveraging ambiguity to promote business success.
Sound business judgment and ability to work successfully with a variety of individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives.
Executive coaching certification or experience
Google Suite and Workday experience a plus
