Job Summary:

ABC News Studios is a group within the award winning ABC News team that produces long-form, narrative non-fiction and news specials for Hulu, the ABC Network, Disney+ and National Geographic. ABC News Studios interns will be exposed to the inner-workings of the long-form group and get exposure to the development process, creative production, and production management activities.

A Day in the Life…

  • Work closely within a production team as support staff and assist on projects from beginning to end (greenlight to deliverables/post)
  • Pull archival material and develop a strong understanding of how to work with archival materials
  • Develop a profound understanding of the unscripted/documentary pitching process
  • Assist on various shoots and develop crucial production assistant skills
  • Learn to work quickly in preparation for breaking news
  • Become familiar with how material is organized in various ABC News systems
  • Develop skills using Avid editing software

What we are looking for…

  • Interest in editorial content development
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team/group setting
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge and interest in current events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in non-linear, digital video editing (AVID, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere)
  • Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting
  • Familiarity with ABC News Programming 

Required Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program, or recently graduated within six months at time of application.

Additional Details:

  • This internship is hybrid – Intern will be asked to work in the office occasionally and work remotely the rest of the time
  • Must be willing to work in the New York City area and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
  • The approximate dates of this internship are January – May/June 2023
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time hours when needed (approximately 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri) for the duration of the internship
  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
