Provide engineering services for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure primarily in a sustaining engineering capacity. Expertise in facility systems such as roofs, coatings, windows, etc. and traditional civil fields such as drainage, paving, storm and sewer systems, etc. is also required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and field guidance to contractors and craft. Evaluate facilities for compliance with local building codes, government regulations, and other compliance requirements.
  • Act as an owner’s representative in the design and execution of projects by others.
  • Assist with answering RFI submittals and review close out documentation for completion.
  • Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications.
  • Develop maintenance contracts and bid packages, conduct job walks, award contracts, and facilitate and oversee contract execution. Verify and submit annual budget requests for maintenance contract vendors.
  • Collaborate with Design and Delivery project managers on various tenant improvement projects. Attend weekly construction meetings and facilitate communication between Operations Team and Project Managers.
  • Provide detailed scope and rough cost estimates for repairs and renovations on projects. Assist with prioritizing capital projects for current and future fiscal year portfolio alongside operations managers, project manager, and program manager.
  • Coordinate future plans for various improvements on existing facilities, with consultation from architects and engineers.
  • Provide project management on select jobs.
  • Act as an owner’s representative in the design and execution of projects by others.
  • Assist with answering RFI submittals and review close out documentation for completion.
  • Evaluate facilities for compliance with local building codes, government regulations, and other compliance requirements
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, architectural, mechanical and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Maintain and field verify accurate underground utility drawings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience with facility and infrastructure design in support of operations
  • 3 years of experience with plan review, working with Design and Delivery professionals and A&E firms
  • 3 years of experience within the handling complex infrastructure projects
  • 3 years of experience working with and providing counsel to unionized labor forces
  • Professional engineering experience involved in the construction, repair, remodel, operation and maintenance of facilities and area development.
  • CAD drawing review
  • Knowledge of the New York State, City and International standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to the construction, and maintenance of structures and facilities.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and local safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years of professional engineering experience involved in the construction, repair, remodel, operation and maintenance of facilities and area development.
  • Applied knowledge of the New York State, City and International standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to the construction, and maintenance of structures and facilities.
  • Applied knowledge of modern material, methods, and techniques of design, construction, installation, and maintenance of structures and facilities.
  • Knowledge of building construction processes and procedures, equipment, tools, materials, and their application.
  • Knowledge of inspection and investigation techniques
  • Knowledge of maintenance management software
  • LEED certification
  • PMP
  • Professional Engineer license

Required Education

  • BS in Civil/Construction Management or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • MS in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or equivalent
