Global Crisis Management’s (GCM) mission is to collaborate with key business partners and customers to support all Disney (and its affiliates) employees in building, sustaining and improving Disney’s capability to prepare for, respond to and recover from all hazards. GCM accomplishes its mission by four approaches: plan development, training and exercising developed plans, implementing the use of technology for emergency use and partnership with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:

A Day in the Life…
  • This position exists to ensure The Company is prepared for, can respond to and recover from all hazards that might affect employees, Company Assets or the Brand around the globe.
  • Provide emergency planning technical expertise for plan development, exercises, drills and training.
  • Support the Planning Program Manager on the rewrite of the Global Crisis Enterprise-Wide plan.
  • Support all Crisis Management enterprise-wide preparedness programming such as Team 3E, annual fairs, etc.
  • Support the activation of enterprise-wide emergency operations as outlined in the Corporate emergency response plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

What we are looking for…
  • Excellent personal communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Experience using social media in an academic setting or professional work environment
  • Presentation experience including building materials
  • Strong proficiency with the use of MS Office suite with an emphasis on Excel
  • The ability to manage difficult situations, leverage limited resources and design emergency management programs.
  • “Can do” attitude.
  • Comfortable with shared tools such as OneNote
  • Provide support with database management, including tracking and pulling data for reports

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Emergency Operation Center environment.
  • GIS mapping background is beneficial

Required Education

  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Working on a 4 year degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security or like field.

Preferred Education

  • Working on a Masters degree in Emergency Management or Homeland Security
  • ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 ideal; ICS 300 and 400 or other FEMA ICS planning and operational classes strongly preferred

Additional Information:

  • The approximate dates of this internship are June 2020 through January 2021
  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship
  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Housing: Interns must provide their own housing for the duration of their internship program.
  • Transportation: Interns must have reliable transportation to get to and from work for the duration of their internship program.
