Job Summary:

The Good Morning America Deputy Managing Editor is the leader of the GMA Digital Video Team and a senior leader on the broader GMA Digital team. The role is based out of the New York office. The person will lead the GMA Digital Video team of producers and will be responsible for managing, developing and producing all digital video content for Good Morning America Digital with the goal of growing our total video audience. This person must have a demonstrated track record of editorial excellence in the areas of lifestyle content and human-interest content, including producing character-driven videos, and the journalism experience and impeccable news judgment to excel in a fast-paced news environment. Candidates must be a data-driven video leader with audience development experience who understand how videos work across different digital and social platforms. The person is responsible for overseeing the visual voice of the GMA Digital brand, in conjunction with the larger GMA Digital leadership team. The person should have a strong track record of innovating digital video formats and growing video audiences. The Deputy Managing Editor of Digital Video must have exemplary communication skills, impeccable news judgement, strong planning skills, and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The person is responsible for supervising day to day responsibilities including, video reviews prior to publishing, managing projects, managing franchises, and an ability to envision long term, brand-moving initiatives. The person will also lead a talented and creative team of video producers, and be a senior leader within the broader digital organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing, developing and producing all GMA digital video content with the goal of growing our total audience, reaching new audiences and innovating.
  • Lead video strategy, video priorities and audience growth
  • Assign and manage video producers' daily, weekly and monthly assignments and all content
  • Supervise video edits, shoots, and pre-production processes
  • Manage a team of video producers
  • Leading futures planning for GMA video team
  • Coordinate with GMA Managing Editor, Social Managing Editor, GMA Digital Editors/Senior Editors and internal ABC teams on futures planning, initiatives and special projects
  • Manage branded and sponsored content for GMA video
  • Lead on GMA video co-productions with outside partners
  • Manage video production budget and resources
  • Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks with ease

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in lifestyle or news digital video production
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Proven track record of mobile video storytelling and innovation
  • Experience launching new digital video series and managing video growth
  • Experience with analytics and audience development / an understanding of how videos work across different digital and social platforms
  • Experience vetting and hiring crews and freelancers to staff shoots as needed. Managing an outside production company for post and pre production.

Required Education

  • BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
