Job Summary:

DSS is a global leader in delivering direct-to-consumer live and on demand entertainment at scale. DSS Finance is seeking a manager to develop/own the current year financial forecast and evolve existing long-range plans for Disney+ from strategy to operational view with the availability of live data from the service. The long range model is dynamic as both internal partnerships (local and international) and external factors change the scale and trajectory of the expected subscriber growth and financial expectations. This team will be responsible for maintaining the current and future year financial models based on latest growth initiatives and the internal subscriber data that will be generated at launch. The ability to communicate the changes from baseline models/expectation to the evolving models from both a finance and business perspective is vital.

This team will also be responsible for understanding the detailed PL for all countries to ensure there is consistency in all line items to ensure the global rollup is logical. This familiarity with the detailed forecasts and model will facilitate executive management to have one center of excellence for all KPI or financial queries, regardless of region/country. This team will be responsible for the global D+ financials. To be successful in this role, it will require close coordination with counterparts at Disney who manage content (local and global), brand marketing spend and regional customer acquisition efforts. The DSS FPA team is responsible for actuals and all legal entity roll-ups while the financial forecasting and long range model will present the overall management view and relative economics of the service. For example, the content investment will have varying cash and PL views given accounting treatment, hence those should be bridged given the magnitude of the spend. Additionally, the coordination with DSS FPA is required to have a long-term understanding of the variable cost structure as they are often step function costs. Understanding the drivers of variable costs differences is important to develop and deploy best of breed approaches across all of DTCIs services. When consistent approaches are not deployed, this team should understand the business dynamics which support the alternative structures.

Existing long range plans reflect price increases given assumptions of price elasticity and competitor information. Industry Knowledge and models should reflect evolving external market dynamics that could impact long range plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed D+ current PL forecast by country, region and offering
  • Develop a LRP that incorporates both internal data and external pricing/market growth data
  • Keep abreast of industry news and competitor information
  • Partner with the colleagues across Disney’s DTC services to gather information to develop centralized understanding of KPIs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Foundation in finance to develop current forecast and long range plan
  • Operational experience in DTC business in technology or finance teams
  • Excellent modelling and analytical skills coupled with the ability to identify differences and their impact
  • Able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and resolve issues quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Skilled in distilling insights from data and synthesizing and crafting compelling presentations for executive audiences, both financial and non-financial
  • Able to maintain both a rigorous attention to detail and a big-picture, strategic mindset
  • Deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, able to prioritize, and resolve an array of issues simultaneously

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Preferred Education

  • MBA
