Job Summary:
The Multi Digital Rights Management team is responsible for implementing technology to securely deliver streams and prevent piracy, and is looking for a leader and people manager to drive our team forward. We’re looking for folks to build amazing user experiences and performant, scalable APIs for Disney+, Hulu, Star+ and ESPN+
Responsibilities will include design and discovery of new projects, executional success, domain ownership, operational expertise, and career and people coaching. From a technology perspective, this role requires strong Functional Programming, Scala, and AWS experience, and a standard of excellence in high availability, high throughput systems.
Responsibilities:
Work with a team of engineers building software in a collaborative development process
Become a domain expert and help the team understand product requirements, prioritization, and project sequencing.
Build high-performance, stable, scalable systems to be deployed in an enterprise setting
Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions
Author and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analyses
Provide mentoring and advice for other engineers
Establish engineering best practices and standards within the team to drive quality and excellence
Contribute to the DSS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and other knowledge-sharing efforts
Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of technical experience to include at least 2 years of technical and engineering leadership experience
Experience delivering backend applications in a production environment
Awareness of functional programming and Scala (Cats, Cats Effect, Tagless Final preferred)
Experience building RESTful services (APIs in Scala)
Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency
Understanding of source control concepts and exposure to Git; understanding of sbt as a build tool to manage compiling of source files.
Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker
Experience with application monitoring software such as Grafana, Datadog, etc.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent training or work experience

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $172,282 to $231,110 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $164,492 to $220,660; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $180,154 to $241,70 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
