Publicist (FX Networks – New York, NY)

FX Networks is seeking a New York-based Publicist to assist in the execution of publicity campaigns for FX Networks programs.  The Publicist is involved in talent press trips, set visits, special events, premieres, stunts, promotions, photo shoots, press tours and clip selections for talent appearances on talk shows. 


  • Support and execute entertainment publicity campaigns for FX Networks programs.  Responsibilities include pitching to media; writing and editing press releases, bios and all other publicity materials for assigned shows; and coordinating print and online interviews, talk show appearances, photo shoots, set visits, affiliate satellite tours, radio press junkets, online/social media initiatives and other press-related functions.
  • Partner with other FX Publicity team members on set visits, special events, premieres, stunts, promotions, conventions, trade shows, photo shoots and press junkets.  Help with facilitating press interviews and escorting talent for marketing stunts, photo shoots, etc. 
  • Provide support for other FX Networks series and specials, including all NY-based productions.  Select electronic clip requests for talent media appearances; work with legal in clearing all clips for use.
  • Assist in the planning of press conferences, TCA sessions and various major market affiliate events.
  • Assist with FX events, providing support for the department as needed.
  • Hire, oversee and mentor the media relations intern and work with VP to ensure internship is an enriching experience.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in communications or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a publicity department or PR agency required. Must have at least one year of experience in television network publicity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and required, with the ability to handle stressful situations and a wide variety of personalities diplomatically.
  • Must be exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, be able to handle multiple projects at once and excel at time management/prioritization. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet navigation.
  • Must be highly motivated, personable, a self-starter, resourceful and solution-oriented.
  • Must be comfortable working in a satellite office, and able to effectively build relationships and collaborate remotely with colleagues located at the network headquarters in Los Angeles.
