As a member of the Systems Design & Architecture (SDA) team, you are dedicated to designing and architecting backend services and control software supporting global content delivery for Disney Streaming products. Your responsibilities include designing, developing, and disseminating technical strategy across front and backend engineering teams. You have an inherent desire to quickly deep-dive on engineering and business use cases with the ability to provide multiple solutions, weighing both the value created and effort required by the decisions you make. As an ideal candidate you have hands-on software development expertise as well as experience as a technical product manager or architect.
Develop and drive scoping of new technologies and product designs for Disney Streaming content distribution
Champion technical initiatives across various architecture disciplines in software development
Understand customer problems in detail and ensure the problems are clearly defined and prioritized
Create well-defined functional product requirements, specifications, page flows, mockups, and prototypes
Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering leads to formulate and document the product requirements
Product owner responsibilities within an agile team, specifically documenting user stories, acceptance criteria and API interface design
Drive automation and unification of solutions, tooling, and processes internally and across Disney Streaming distribution services
5+ years of experience developing client applications or APIs
Ability to lead varied audiences through consensus building
Comfortable making decisions with some level of uncertainty
Well organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working on a geographically distributed team
8+ years of experience designing and implementing complex distributed solutions
Demonstrated experience with complex caching and streaming data systems
Understanding of streaming video protocols (HLS) and how it interacts with caching
Industry knowledge of consumer applications across web, mobile, and living room devices
Ability to deliver through ambiguity, work both independently and collaboratively, and multi-task amongst several priorities
Strong ability to influence without authority
Understanding of domain driven design and microservices
Fluent in technical alternatives/pros and cons and ability to partner with software teams
Knowledgeable in technology development best practices (such as Agile), and product management methodology
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent industry experience
The pay range for this position in Colorado is $117,752 to $157,960 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
