Job Summary:

The Social Newsgathering Producer is a key member of the social media team, responsible for sourcing, clearing, and licensing social content (photos, videos) as well as identifying potential interview subjects from all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) during breaking news as well as identifying and sourcing potential viral content for use across platforms. The candidate will be comfortable optimizing (pitching, writing) this content for use across different platforms, working closely with editorial for broadcast and digital. S/he will be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating judgment and social acumen.


  • Manage the day-to-day curation of content from multiple social platforms
  • React to breaking news and plan for major news events
  • Help develop strategy for the curation of social content and help evaluate new tools
  • Pitch all platforms based on content found in social
  • Work closely with shows and digital to meet UGC needs

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of relevant experience, including an internship
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven competency across social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Snapchat
  • Strong understanding of social media curation tools
  • Skilled in the creation of socially shareable content
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and create ideas in a fast-paced environment

Required Education

Required Education: BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
