Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company's Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) is a new, global business segment for The Walt Disney Company that is responsible for all monetization of content—both distribution and ad sales—and oversees the operations of the Company’s streaming services, including Disney+ (including Star and Disney+ Hotstar internationally), Hulu, and ESPN+ and domestic broadcast and cable television networks. DMED brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization, with the goal of expanding the footprint of Disney’s world-class content and beloved brands and delivering highly-personalized entertainment experiences to diverse consumers around the world.  DMED works in close collaboration with Disney’s Studio, General Entertainment, and Sports content creation teams on programming and marketing for the streaming services and networks.”

The DMED business is seeking a Sr. Finance Manager, Addressable Ad Sales to join the team for Sports ad sales finance support focused on ESPN/ESPN+ and reporting to the VP of Finance.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of the established ad supported product and growth segment for the company.  The team works closely with Disney’s Ad Sales Revenue and Yield Management (RYM), Research, and Technology teams to deliver strategic, financial and operational goals of the business. 

Job Summary

The Sr. Manager will partner with the RYM, Research, Technology, Subscription Finance, and Controllership teams to prepare budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans. The role will also be responsible for providing recurring KPI reporting, oversee the full funnel financial ad model for the business, Rate/Volume analysis, Forecast/Plan modeling, and tightly coordinate business planning across DMED’s streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+).He/She will lead analysis and insights into digital OI growth initiatives such as inventory optimization, pricing opportunities, and new product features.

This role relies heavily on a key understanding and working knowledge of the streaming ad sales business and how an ad supported Direct to Consumer product generates subscribers, inventory, and ultimately ad monetization. The ideal candidate will be able to easily navigate and clearly communicate between the ad sales, technology, and the financial organizations.  A strong analytical background to drive business insights and recommendations with quantifiable impact is needed. Ability to work in a fact paced and evolving line of business is needed. At times candidate will possess the ability to be creative and thrive in ambiguity or limited direction.

This role will start with 2 SFA’s reporting into it; will need the ability to help coach & develop other team members; he/she needs to be able to effectively communicate, manage workload, and professionally develop the direct reports on a day-to-day basis


  • Lead, manage, coach and develop direct report to drive long-range planning process (LRP), annual operating plan process (AOP), business planning, forecasting, reporting and variance analysis for all ESPN components of digital ad revenue.

  • Manage the Monthly and Quarterly financial close deliverables. Including ad sales metrics, revenue performance, and variance commentary. Coordinate with Accounting and other stakeholders on proper revenue recognition, reclasses, SAP coding, and accruals

  • Create and maintain ad model from inventory to ad monetization in support of monetization strategies to maximize yield for digital inventory on ESPN. As needed, management of 3p inventory shares and rev share costs.  Responsible for financial scenario analysis, content monetization performance, and inventory insights

  • Manage the day-to-day KPIs, inventory performance, inventory utilization, pricing, and revenue. Report weekly to the executive leadership with insightful commentary.

  • Collaborate with RYM and Research in providing strategic recommendations for inventory and revenue mix optimizations.

Required Experience/ Skills

  • 7+ years in an FP&A role or applicable experience
  • Advanced Excel abilities (Nested statements, pivot tables, charting, combining functions like Index Match, Offset and Indirect)
  • Intermediate data analytics, experience in SQL reporting, Snowflake, Tableau or similar tools
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with information systems and/or strong ability to quickly learn new information systems (primarily Business Objects, Google Ad Manager, Operative and Tableau)
  • Experience in SAP, COGNOS, Adaptive Insights, or similar financial reporting tool

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree
  • Ad sales or media FP&A experience
