Job Summary:

Direct-to-Consumer-and-International (DTCI) is Disney’s global, multiplatform media, product, technology, and distribution organization for world-class content. DTCI is comprised of Disney’s international media and direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including all Disney networks outside of the US, the ESPN+ streaming service, the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service and the Company’s ownership stake in Hulu. The DTCI Tech organization focuses on providing ground-breaking innovation and driving the strategic use and development of technology to power the DTCI business, deliver world-class products and experiences to consumers around the world. The Product and Design group within DTCI Tech, is charged with developing unique branded entertainment, news, kids and sports experiences across web, mobile, and connected devices.

The Sr. Product Manager will lead National Geographic branded website experiences, with an emphasis on the flagship NatGeo.com website, as well as ancillary sites and digital products. This role will work on a web roadmap with ownership over specific Nat Geo experiences as well as features that contribute to DTCI’s broader suite of News & Editorial brands, including ABC News, FiveThirtyEight, Good Morning America, and the 8 ABC Owned Television Stations.

The person who takes on this role will have a vision for how to build high-impact editorial experiences in support of digital subscription growth, a passion for design, data and testing, an interest in working with strategic partners to balance the need of content distribution against owned platform needs, and a passion for the National Geographic brand and modern editorial experiences more broadly.

He/she should be someone who is methodical and detail-oriented but can simultaneously think critically and creatively about the larger picture. He/she will be self-motivated and enjoy working independently, but also be able to collaborate successfully with a wide variety of stakeholders across business functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as Product Owner for scrum teams. Collaborate, partner and coordinate with cross-functional teams (editorial, engineering, design, marketing, product leadership, analytics, and business insight) to streamline system integrations and enhance existing business processes. Keeps all teams on course to completion.
  • Translate strategy and product vision into project deliverables with achievable
    launch targets. Create product requirements for new features and initiatives. Interprets external in depth consumer analytics and identifies innovative solutions. Author, maintain and deliver technical documentation and other resources to internal and external partners.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant equivalent experience
  • 5 + years in product management, including synthesizing business, creative and technical elements into compelling consumer-facing experiences.
  • Superior product and design sense that guides the team and allows for rapid development and innovation. Understanding of current design practices and trends for digital product development is essential.
  • Adept at writing user stories/journeys
  • Dedication to and deep knowledge of data, employing insights to make decisions and adjustments on a daily/weekly basis. Comfort working with analytics software and data visualization tools
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to clearly communicate goals, status and issues upwards and across organization.
  • Solid understanding of tools, technologies, agile processes and methodologies employed in modern native app development. Ability to work with engineering teams to deliver elegant and timely solutions.
  • Experience working in product, growth, or marketing for a Direct-to-Consumer subscription business a big plus
