Disney Streaming encompasses the teams behind the Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and Star+ streaming services within Disney’s Media & Entertainment Distribution group. Disney Streaming is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Subscriber Environment and Entitlements team within the Media Engineering organization. The Subscriber Environment and Entitlements team’s mission is to build highly available, high throughput services that are critical to delivering high quality content to our subscribers. Responsibilities

  • Work with a distributed team of engineers building software in a collaborative development process

  • Build high-performance, stable, scalable systems to be deployed in an enterprise setting

  • Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions

  • Participate in the code review process by providing feedback on pull requests

  • Participate in the on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidents

  • Author and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analyses

  • Provide mentoring and advice for other engineers

  • Establish engineering best practices and standards within the team to drive quality and excellence

  • Contribute to the DS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and other knowledge-sharing efforts

Basic Qualifications

  • At minimum 5 years of experience

  • Experience delivering backend applications in a production environment

  • Expertise in functional programming and Scala

  • Experience building RESTful services

  • Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency

  • Understanding of source control concepts and exposure to Git

  • Self-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skills

  • Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker

  • Experience working with AWS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

Additional Information:

Location: New York, NY, Santa Monica, CA, or Seattle, WA preferred but also open to US remote for the right candidate.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $117,752 to $157,960 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
