Job Summary:

The Digital Comics department is a team of people that take the printed comics and recreate them into digital comics for digital sale. The digital comics department also create content for subscription-based platforms such as Marvel Unlimited. On Marvel Unlimited, not only do we take the comics and convert to digital, we also create the panel-to-panel reading experience. This is a function that will allow you to control and create the way each page is read. Our job is to make sure that all the comics, from the 1950’s to today, are converted digitally, ready for digital sale. Logo placement, artwork, lettering, file management, working together as a team to complete the many books Marvel has for our readers.


Here are a few key responsibilities for working in the Digital Comics Department. The art in each book must be checked to make sure that the right pages are in the book. The lettering and page order must be looked over to make sure the book will appear correctly. Another duty would be making sure the cover is correct. The logo and art that’s on the cover, at times, will need some adjustments. Same for the interior pages. All the books we have, in some way, need to be adjusted, reformatted, and checked before completed for digital sale. We use Adobe programs to accomplish this. In Marvel’s Unlimited comics section, you will be responsible for creating the reading flow on each page. Choosing which panel and/or text will appear next on the screen.

Basic Qualifications:

Knowledge of Adobe Suite Programs is required as is a portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Resume must outline other internships, degrees earned, work experience, related clubs and organizations, current major course of study, expected graduation date and extracurricular activities.
  • Cover letter must include a personal introduction, and days/times available during internship period.
  • Preferred Junior or Senior-level standing
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Required Education

Currently pursuing a BA/BS in Illustration, Graphic Design, or Fine Arts major.

Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
Program Dates: The internship will start in May - August with flexibility as needed based on academic calendars.

Housing & Transportation: This internship is located in New York, NY. All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
