ABC News Live is looking for a Weekend/Part Time Line Producer. The Live Desk Line Producer will ultimately become a “super viewer” of ABC News Live; utilizing that bandwidth to improve the viewer experience and to weave seamless transitions between varying forms of taped and live content.
Candidates will need to pay great attention to detail, have an ability to multitask and be able to work collaboratively while also being a co-leader with the Live Desk Live Operations Producer. Candidate should be someone who thrives on navigating between big picture ideas and developing and implementing workflows that allow for those ideas to come to fruition.
The Live Desk Line Producer will need to understand complex operating systems and, along with the live operations producer, be tasked with finding innovative ways to make those procedures more efficient. Candidate should enjoy working collaboratively with a team of colleagues with varying strong suits and backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This producer will monitor editorial stories and breaking news and adjust content when appropriate. The line producer will pitch live events that may require the team to break into regularly-scheduled weekend programming to produce raw events live. Promotion and teasing of upcoming content and creation of hourly headlines is also a prime responsibility for this role. In moments of breaking news, the line producer becomes the first line of communication for EPs to formulate plans and adjust programming accordingly. The Line Producer will liaise between the Live Operations Producers and the Editorial/Production teams in the control room who produce anchored coverage. This role will also be responsible for overseeing the editorial aspect of our raw live streaming operation, ensuring accurate headlines are applied to weekend live events as well as guidelines from standards and legal are routinely followed when publishing content to our streaming products/partners.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in iNews or related news software
- Experience producing and coordinating multiple live events at the same time
- Proficiency in editing on Avid or similar program
- Strong writing skills, particularly as related to graphics
- Ability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays and weekends as news warrants.
- Strong editorial understanding of current events across various verticals (US News, International News, US politics, Election News, Entertainment/Business national stories)
The hiring range for this position in [location] is $86,400 to $118,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
