Job Summary:

Construction Management is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site construction activities through installation on a project or multiple projects. Monitors safety, quality, and schedule in the field, while providing technical expertise and ensuring work in place meets quality requirements of contract documents, applicable codes, and Disney standards. Coordinates and interfaces with all WDI Studios, WDW Operations and Security, contractors, vendors, and governmental agencies. Construction Management is the primary responsible Studio for everything that happens on WDI construction projects, including all impact to Operations.


  • Authorship of construction strategies
  • Manages multiple bid packages
  • Responsible for on-site construction documents
  • Updates natural disaster preparedness annual protocols
  • Manages and secures all construction sites during emergency preparedness
  • Reviews and approves contractor's project schedule
  • Interfaces with DPEP Senior Executives
  • Ensures directives / change orders and pay applications are work flowing in timely manner to avoid contractor payment delays
  • Arbitrates directive negotiation conflicts between contractor and estimating
  • Manages construction efforts on a project or multiple projects which are large and complex in nature
  • Performs constructability analysis and value engineering recommendations
  • Manages pre-construction services scope and provides pre-construction input
  • Monitors/reviews/approves schedule, quality control, and reports status
  • Insures proper interface with internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitates production of mock-ups for approval (ED&E, Creative & Operator)
  • Manages insurance program in conjunction with Loss Prevention
  • Participates in the hiring process of internal and external resources
  • Responsible for performance management/reviews, performance counseling, and talent development of direct reports
  • Leads/manages the project delivery system
  • Manages a more complex and larger team of personnel providing leadership, mentoring, coaching, and guidance
  • Acts as mentor and coach for junior level field managers and interns providing leadership and direction
  • Directs priorities for assigned project/s
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Day-to-day decision making for construction activities within scope
  • Knows when to elevate issues requiring executive leadership direction
  • Direct point of contact/communication to all construction vendors and contractors on a daily basis
  • Interfaces with WDP&R Senior Executives frequently
  • Governmental and utility agencies through the life cycle of area of scope
  • Communicates and coordinates with other WDI and WDP&R departments on a daily basis

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of outside job related experience or 7-10 years WDI Construction Management / coordination experience
  • Ability to lead a project team
  • Ability to manage through conflict, complexity and to problem-solve issues to resolution
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to direct, adapt to change, establish relationships, collaborate, build consensus and anticipate roadblocks

Project environment is extremely diverse and requires a strong depth of character & social excellence. Projects are highly dynamic and ever-changing coupled with required daily interface (1:1) with WDW Operations, WDW Engineering Services, & Regulatory Agencies, etc

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in Theme Park and Attraction Construction.
  • Understanding of scheduling, budgeting, and quality control
  • Bluebeam (Drawing Reviews)
  • BIM 360 Field (desktop and mobile/iPad)
  • BIM 360 Glue (desktop and mobile/iPad)
  • BIM 360 Docs (desktop and mobile/iPad)
  • Various GC Project Management Platforms
    • Reservoir (WDW Only)
    • Per Division 1, GC may recommend a project management software (WDW Only)

Required Education

  • College degree in a WDI core discipline such as Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related profession (or equivalent relevant experience).

Preferred Education

  • OSHA 30
  • Stop the Bleed
  • H4/H5 Risks
  • General Contractor License preferred
