Job Summary:

As a member of the DPEP Technology & Digital team, this role will be responsible for the delivery of technology and execution of projects for Retail Technology Operations (RTO). The Technical Architect provides definition of software and hardware capabilities needed to support deployment of business, information and application services related to the platform, infrastructure, and configuration for server and cloud infrastructure in Retail Technology Operations.

The successful candidate requires technical knowledge and skills that are broad and deep, covering various software and platforms and a strong track record of implementing best-fit technically architected solutions that align to business goals. The candidate must be comfortable operating in complex heterogeneous technology environments and have experience with delivering highly integrated scalable, resilient, and mission critical solutions. This is a highly collaborative role where partnership with many different non-technical lines of business other technology teams will be critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports definition of software and hardware capabilities needed to support deployment of business, information and application services
  • Identifies, evaluates and recommends solutions and technologies to facilitate development and implementation
  • Helps ensure integrity, security, availability, effectiveness, and efficiency of technology infrastructure, including middleware, networks, communications, processing, and standards
  • Understands business needs and customer and market requirements
  • Applies technical and theoretical knowledge to solve architectural design problems
  • Recommends and develops frameworks and standards. Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure problems
  • Develops architecture and engineering diagrams to support infrastructure technical development and recommends improvements
  • Tightly integrate with key technology and functional partners and ensure that products are created in a platform-centric manner
  • Ensure alignment between technology investments and business capability roadmaps
  • Ensure that the platform is metrics and performance driven
  • Ensure alignment with other key technology functions such as strategy programs, business analysis, quality assurance, engineering excellence, portfolio management, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 + years of progressively related experience in Infrastructure Systems Engineering
  • In depth experience with:
    • Server Infrastructure, hypervisor, virtualization, and storage
    • Tier application architecture
    • Open Source
  • Expert level skills in server-based systems, including more than one of the following areas:
    • Linux Distros (RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian)
    • Kubernetes/Docker/Rancher/Containers
    • Cloud based technologies (AWS or GCE)
    • DevOps/Infrastructure Automation including Ansible or similar platforms
    • SAN and NAS storage
    • Infrastructure Architecture and Design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing technical specifications and documentation
  • Experience interpreting technical instructions and dealing with abstract and concrete variables
  • Broad knowledge of industry best practices
  • Demonstrates understanding of the entire eCommerce infrastructure to be able to extrapolate impact of changes in the systems architecture
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks and tools
  • Research and analysis experience designing architecture frameworks or enhancing existing architectures
  • Troubleshooting skills, ability to determine issue impact, ability to resolve complex issues, and ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in stressful situations

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
