Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.

What we’re looking for…
An Animation and Production Intern to work within the department that is responsible for the design, fabrication, assembly and installation of highly prototypical and cutting edge show systems that includes but is not limited to; Animated figures, Animated Props, Show Action Equipment, Special Effects, and Show Control cabinets that interface with multiple disciplines. Our Animation and Production cast members use their hands and tools to fabricate and assemble complex prototypical mechanical systems and are required to stay current with industry standards and advancing technology.

Responsibilities

You will…

  • Take direction from designers and team leaders in supporting the design and fabrication of prototypical animated robotic figures
  • Provide information for technical publications
  • Assist in the determination of detailed work plans and priorities
  • Select standard parts and catalogue items

Basic Qualifications

What you bring to the role…
  • Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Basic Carpentry skills
MECHANICAL SKILLS:
  • Basic understanding of mechanism design and assemblies, and physical mechanics
  • Demonstrated ability to design simple parts and mechanisms
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Basic computer skills and CNC programming in G-code
  • ACAD or another 2D software
ELECTRICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce wiring diagrams, wiring lists and connector schedules
  • Ability to wire, terminate and troubleshoot simple assemblies and systems
  • Basic repair skills using state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, equipment and software
  • Basic understanding of electronic and electrical design principles
  • Electro-mechanical assembly Skills
SURFACE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS:
  • Ability to clean-up complex fiberglass or silicone tools and parts; fabricate high temp epoxy molds and FRP molds; and execute simple fiberglass lay-up, silicone molds and silicone parts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship experience
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • 1 year experience in mechanical fabrication and assembly
  • 1 year military or industrial experience in electrical/electronics production including wiring layout and termination
  • 1 year experience in fiberglass and silicone tool and part fabrication

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or must have graduated from an accredited college/university within the past 6 months, earning a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or related field experience (working directly with Animation design and fabrication)

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)
  • Must possess valid driver's license

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2018 through June 2018. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
