Job Summary:

This role reports directly to the PR Manager – Consumer, DTIC Communications ANZ.

Responsibilities of the PR Executive, Consumer, is to assist the PR Manager in developing and implementing communications strategies for a variety of consumer-facing programs and platforms with a large focus on Disney+, and supporting publicity and communication planning for other key business areas including Live Events, ESR (Enterprise Social Responsibility) and DPEP (Disney Parks, Experiences and Products)

The role is responsible for executing communications activities and initiatives to build awareness, as well as working with the PR Manager Consumer to identify media coverage opportunities. This role will also support company cross line of business opportunities as required.


Disney Streaming Services / Disney+
  • Execute the day-to-day publicity activities in ANZ in an effort to increase positive media coverage and drive awareness
  • Develop, maintain, improve positive media coverage of Disney+ in a wide range of media, including print, online, radio, television and social media
  • Implement international talent opportunities inclusive of interviews and events
  • Provide PR support for cross-company initiatives as required
  • Identify, develop and manage cross-business franchise opportunities
  • Keep up-to-date with Disney+ information and activities, and industry issues and media movements that affect, or are of interest, to Disney and their affiliates
  • Source, write and edit materials for different communications channels
  • Deal with communications issues professionally, quickly and efficiently
  • Prepare reports as required including the compilation of clippings, daily media monitors, creating presentations etc.
  • Manage media monitoring, vendor and affiliate processes and relationships
  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming media queries
Consumer Products and Franchise PR
  • Lead PR strategy development, in line with Retail Marketing and Franchise strategies, to raise awareness for new product releases and brand campaigns
  • Execute PR campaigns for Consumer Products and Franchise, including media release development and distribution, product seeding and any influencer engagement
  • Manage Disney’s social media influencer relations for Consumer Products and Franchise initiatives
  • Work closely with the Retail Marketing and Franchise teams to support product releases, brand activity and initiatives which require PR support
Cross Company Projects – ESR:
  • Work closely with PR Manager and Head of ESR to maximise the ESR plan from a consumer perspective to best position TWDC as best practise in ESR
Live Events:
  • Support the PR Manager and Stage division in the development of a Consumer PR strategy working with all stakeholders to build awareness of key programmes – Frozen – Sydney 2020
  • Build and maintain key relationships with media, including ticketing requests and media enquiries as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ relevant work experience in entertainment or related field
  • In-house or agency PR experience – media/entertainment experience preferred – experience with streaming/on-demand platforms is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely organised, process-orientated and results-driven
  • Ability to execute communications strategies and implement tactics
  • Interest in and understanding of technology, entertainment and broadcast
  • Event management experience is a plus
  • Established relationships with key media in Australia and New Zealand
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in multi-tasking, prioritising and managing conflicting deadlines
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills
  • Results-orientated, proactive, displays high initiative and strong work-ethic
  • A passion and strong knowledge of the entertainment and media industries
  • Flexibility and adaptability; ability to deal with changing deadlines and support requirements
  • Ability to deal with remote relationships
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the Disney Brand values
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel – with knowledge of Adobe Photoshop a plus

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
