Job Summary:

To manage the public relations (incorporating publicity and promotions) for all Studio and Franchise Marketing efforts related to Disney, Pixar and Animation, driving ROI to meet business objectives. The Senior Manager – Public Relations: Disney, Pixar & Animation, will also manage a PR team dedicated to supporting all Studio and Franchise Marketing efforts related to Disney, Pixar and Animation.


  • Develop strategic PR plans to support overarching marketing objectives for Disney, Pixar and Animation
  • Manage external PR agency and leading or involvement in cross company briefings
  • Cross company recommendations and considerations in an advisory role in shaping future projects and efficiencies across the organization
  • Drive ROI and messaging to meet business objectives
  • Manage a team dedicated to supporting all Studio and Franchise Marketing efforts related to Disney, Pixar and Animation
International Publicity:
  • Determine appropriate media to participate in international junkets/premieres/events and leverage additional cross company activity where possible for efficiencies across the organisation
  • Manage all relevant arrangements for participating media
  • Internal (including local, regional and home office) communication of strategy
  • Communicate with local media to secure placement and leverage the US/UK features
Australian National Publicity:
  • Determine talent participation in local visits, interview & photo opportunities and subsequent negotiation with US PR teams, relevant teams within the TWDC Australia
  • Manage all relevant arrangements and budgets
  • Determine and pitch creative angles relevant to project
  • Be responsible for the strategic placement of publicity material and also the creation of locally created content
  • Internal (including local, regional and home office) communication of strategy
  • Oversee the management and facilitation of Studio and Franchise events such as media screenings; trade days, Premieres, PR stunts, exhibitions and ticketed events
  • Manage strategy for new trailer placements, both online and broadcast
Local Agencies:
  • Oversee state-based PR campaigns for Studio
  • Manage PR agency
Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Motivate and develop team to deliver against the annual plan, setting challenging objectives and supporting them to deliver business objectives
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development planning for team members to support personal and professional development over the longer-term
  • Build a relationship with the global team and create conversation to raise local needs, sharing information, results and best practice
  • Constantly communicate and share knowledge/insight with the key stakeholders
  • Manage PR Executive and PR Coordinator
  • Provide advice/direction to New Zealand team

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in Publicity and Promotions 
  • Film industry (or other related industry e.g. entertainment/media) experience a big advantage 
  • General marketing, development and facilitation of campaigns 
  • Strong media relationships 
  • Strong negotiation and management experience 
  • People management expertise 
  • Stakeholder management 
  • Demonstrated experience with film, product and event launches/premieres 
  • Project management experience, including communications, market analysis, strategic planning and budgeting
  • Budget management experience/knowledge 
  • A background in areas such as media, sales promotion, advertising, entertainment, events and PR/Communications is advantageous

  • A passion for Disney and the Film/Entertainment industry 
  • Pro-active 
  • Ability to multi-task in a team environment with ever-changing deadlines and strict budget constraints 
  • Extensive media knowledge and deep relationships 
  • A strong understanding of social media and the ‘influencer’ space 
  • General negotiation and relationship management 
  • Exemplary communication (written and verbal) skills 
  • An understanding of the Disney Brand values 
  • Film/product/event launch expertise 
  • Advanced level of all Microsoft/Apple applications 
  • Knowledge of SAP

Required Education

 Tertiary qualified in Marketing or a related field
