- This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.

Job Summary:

The Path Forward Return to Work program at Disney Streaming is a 16-week paid returnship (internship) for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. Disney Streaming is looking for experienced software engineers to add to a variety of teams across the organization. When you apply to this role you may be considered for a position on:

Responsibilities will vary from team to team and you will learn about the particular responsibilities for your team during the interview process. In general you can expect to:

  • To build on an innovative technology stack

  • To work with an outstanding team of Engineers on award-winning, sophisticated apps and systems in a highly collaborative team environment

  • To have an influence on products used globally by millions

  • Collaborate with other team members (including product owners, TPMs, and other business units) to achieve product and business requirements

  • Contribute to the development of new Disney+, Star+ and Hulu application features from on-boarding to browse UI/UX experiences, analytics, video playback UI/UX and much more. If you see it on screen, you’ll likely have a chance to work on it in code.  

  • Apply principled engineering practices including unit testing, integration testing, continuous integration and, by your example, lead others in your team to do likewise.

  • Develop your technical understanding to support and build your career.

Who You Are

  • You work diligently with stakeholders such as project and product management to suss out requirements to provide technical solutions and direction.

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and be part of conversations where discordant views are present.

  • You have an excellent understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture, and you aren't dogmatic about technology choices.

What To Bring

  • 3-5 years of C/C++ experience on embedded systems and/or writing portable multi-platform code

  • Understanding of various chip architectures and what features they support.

  • Experience using build runners / compilation tools for multi-platform projects.

  • Systems programming experience in C/C++, Python, or Java

  • Knowledge of video streaming / HLS
